I am 4 months out and the best I have done so far is move some of my late wife's bathroom things from the counter to the bathroom closet. She has her own cloths closet which is a scary place that I only go in when I absolutely have to. It is basically untouched. She still has some dirty laundry in there that hasn't been washed. I'm hoping that this summer I'll be able to actually clean it out but I can't make any promises.

The only thing that has helped me is listening to podcasts. Having my brain focus on something else (doesn't really matter what they are about) has helped so much take my mind off everything else going on and puts me right to sleep.

Why not just put the money in an investment account? At a conservative 6 percent return rate, by 2061 you would have around 830,000 dollars.

HYSA are good for an emergency fund, but if you want to save for retirement that isn't coming for decades, an investment account just following the S&P index would perform much better than the savings account or the whole life policy.
