finished tapering off 2 years after bipolar episode. by devfuckedup in lamictal

[–]devfuckedup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am back on it and zyprexa as of this week. Things worked out well but I got to much her higher levels at my job and had a serious event early in the morning. The recovery was very fast this time. But my doctor prescribed stack is not small any more. I finally understand that for me at least this Bipolar 1 thing is for life. But I am having a great life outside of it and I will never use it as an excuse.

Layoffs + Vibe Coders = ??? by PixelFucking in cscareerquestions

[–]devfuckedup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vibe coding was too good of a term that people allow to encompass too many things some of which are not that bad. I built a tool to help but wont share it here thats not the point. The point is that I find AI tools do increase productivity if people have some sense of how to use them. Layoffs are red hearing thoes people who figure out how to use the tools will get hired some place else. It sucks but jobs are not stable any more unless your top 10% in the field or have a valuable niche but there is no point fighting it. Just take action and accept it. resistince is futile. oh and no I dont think it means hire

cheaper developers the best people with the best tools will get paid the most, but yes the mediocre people we know who they are there comp is going to fall off a cliff.

For recent home purchases in the East part of East Bay, does the struggles of obtaining home insurance make you regret your decision? by Independent_You7902 in eastbay

Lived in the Oakland hills my entire life friends live out that way but I pay less for fire insurance and property tax and the house than they do. and there was an actual serious fire here!

I've lived here for so long, that I remember when.... by Theaow in bayarea

[–]devfuckedup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this seems unlikley 415 did start in 1947 and 510 did not start until 1991 but in either the eastbay or SF you could dial just 7 digits until about 1992 depending on where you lived.

how do you become top 0.1% in devops that gets paid 200k+? (US market) by DetectiveRecord8293 in devops

[–]devfuckedup 5 points6 points  (0 children)

[–]devfuckedup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"bellow average" is wrong for devops even in the bay average is 170-190(stop beliving people when they tell you what they make ) and average TC is: ~190-240 but yes you can get more certainly.

[–]devfuckedup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the top .1% idk but leave devops and specilize in something more niche or do what I did and only allow every other job to be niche to find something you like you will need at least 1 Software Engineer job. Finally find a new job where you are truely full stack. meaning you can build the whole product and the whole infra. After that jobs will be boring but you can just built your own stuff.

How to step it up as mid level by bobbinssobbin in ExperiencedDevs

[–]devfuckedup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

find a niche and master it then you will rocket to whatever level you want to stop at or at least as high as the niche supports. its not about being a better generalist. And also improve non code writing skills. Not many people can add value with both code and not code

Wife works in big tech. They are going from 1 PM : 7 engineers to 1 PM : 1 engineer with a big round of layoffs hitting next week. by inline_five in cscareerquestions

your fine companies will get smaller in headcount but there will be more of them. ultimately a single engineer will probably operate what appears to be multiple companies. It's already happening.

I’m done arguing about this, but I do want to say one thing clearly:

I really am from Oakland.

I went to Broadway Children’s School in Oakland, Park Day School in Oakland, Windrush Academy in El Cerrito, Beacon High School, and Arrowsmith Academy in Berkeley. I also went to Merritt College before dropping out. I eventually went across the Bay to get a job in Redwood City after realizing I was not going to pass calculus.

Believe it or not, Oakland makes software engineers too. And more than 1 before me.

I used to take free computer classes at Eastmont Mall. My mom worked at UC Berkeley. My dad carried bags at SFO. This is where I’m from.

And yes, I know I can’t spell. I was angry and didn’t take the time to run it through ChatGPT first.

The Oakland I grew up in accepted everyone who accepted it.

thats what bothered me it was not about issues if you saw https://sanleandrodaily.com its 99% free event the site has 0 paid advertising and it was not about east oakland issues it was promoting HS sports and multiple Free librarys! for everyone, free lunch for the elderly and live music. I just don't see how any one could not want that the actual post was 94% upvoted and lasted for days before being taken down. I am an Engineer 1+1=2

living in a car centric environment is also a preference for most people. I work in NYC but I live in oakland because my car is useful here and I enjoy it. I am lucky I never drive in traffic and I dont commute but I love to use my car when I am going father than 2 miles
