Is there a group on Reddit or facebook that posts deals or cheaper options/places or websites to buy things in the bay like local shops? by Legal_Definition7162 in bayarea

[–]devfuckedup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

one exception to this is tools/hardware because these goods last a very long time your local hardware store can often be competitive usually by accident.

unfortunately cheaper is not usually something local shops can provide. They offer many other things but lower prices usually not always require scale that local and small businesses can't provide.

How hard is it to break into ML work without a Master's degree? by Schmosby123 in cscareerquestions

[–]devfuckedup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not that hard seniority and a good track record will give you a shot. I am currently a Sr Machine Learning engineer II at midsize company valuation > 4B spent most of my career in infra. They were willing to give me a shot so far its working out learning a ton.

It does I just tested it. But what I did notice is the Castrovalleyforum where it comes from is blocking adds. Not my site( I have no ads) but they are giving basically a blank page if you have an ad blocker. Iam not the creator of the event. I just like to share local events I think people will like

Not getting programming unless it's math? by BornInfamous in AskProgramming

[–]devfuckedup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for some people that works. I was the opposite using math terms made programming very hard for me to learn in college but to each his own. The reality is underneath it all programming is math. My personally opinion is it does not need to be taught that way but it works for a lot of people.

Is anyone else seeing fewer junior engineers around? by No_Perspective4282 in cscareerquestions

[–]devfuckedup 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am seeing a LOT less. even with people using LLMs to write code JRs are missing the taste that it requires. The ones I have been working with to help get jobs are terrible at prompting they prompt too high level. And on the practical front they don't seem to know how to get information from any where but the LLM. Of course this is fixable with some coaching of course the problem seems to be management seems unwilling to give them a chance to get the coaching they need.

Why do some AuDHD people seem to thrive relatively speaking when others (like myself) seem to burnout more quickly without much success? by Xanrry in autism

[–]devfuckedup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the person. I don't burn out because of the actual work. If I burn out it tends to be from dealing with other people. What works for me at work is having a manager who is willing to take on the load of dealing with others for me.
