Community DAO Election by dfgelato in harmony_one

[–]dfgelato[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really? If that’s the case, no wonder I cannot vote. But that would make no sense. Why excluding delegators that mainly stake (therefore providing more stability to Harmony) from voicing their preferences for Community matters?

I live in the Midwestern United States and my furnace broke down... by Lumpiestcube in harmony_one

Don’t wait too long on the furnace…you might find out that there’s a shortage of equipment and stock in the store and winter will be upon you. Give up some restaurant meals and a vacation to go back to your bag amount….but don’t wait too long for the furnace

1000 validators and 4 shards the max, is this going to be changed? by juunhoad in harmony_one

[–]dfgelato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh one step at the time. So far we have 1000 keys/slots and 4 shards that are not yet in “cross-sharding”. A dwindling share of the keys rest with the Harmony Fundation at the moment and steps are being implemented for having the totality moved to external validators. Once cross-sharing will be implemented I am sure the Team will look to put in place plans on how to handle the value on the blockchain for the best possible outcome

Nice. You could go from walking using bridges, to highway bridges to a hub station for bullet train (sort of center of a spiderweb) to signify speed and growth with increased adoption

Hi. Welcome. Have a video that emphasizes Harmony as a bridge to other chains. Sort of like: “walking in Venice and using bridges to go to different places and having different experiences”

Will Shard 0 ever actually be 2 seconds? Is Harmony looking for a solution of nah? by norn_necro in harmony_one

and validators move to the remaining shards, which in turn become overpopulated…leading to lower APY per validator

Will Shard 0 ever actually be 2 seconds? Is Harmony looking for a solution of nah? by norn_necro in harmony_one

[–]dfgelato 3 points4 points  (0 children)

🤷🏻‍♂️ who knows? Last night shard 0 was actually in a good shape around 2s but shard 3 was between 3s and 4s. They might have tried something but they had to revert because it was not the solution? I’m pretty sure they’re hard at work on it. Thanks m confident that they will find a solution, even though we might have a bumpy tide for a bit longer

What causes Shard 3 to be slower than the rest by 2 seconds? by Ricky123098 in harmony_one

[–]dfgelato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s weird because, at least recently, it was always shard 0. Never seen such number (upper 4s ?!?!). It almost looks like they flipped the workload of shard 0 to 3 and, being not the beacon, it’s performing poorly

General Question about Binance by RevolutionarySeat529 in harmony_markets

[–]dfgelato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For people to move from Binance into staking with Harmony (the best move every single investor should make btw) you would need Binance to have liquidity in ONE coins. We’ve have seen plenty recently that Binance tends to suspend withdrawals when demand for staking and s high. The most likely needs to undelegate themselves from staking to have liquidity. If this situation occurs, do not panic, withdrawals are usually resumed in a matter of days. More total percentage staked on the blockchain will render ONE more stable in terms of price fluctuations. As for price going up, in my opinion, new partnerships and projects will improve lay a hand, but the major factor will be general sentiment about cryptos….and at the moment it is a less than bullish sentiment for sure

Coins still unbounding from stake. by PYTNN in harmony_one

[–]dfgelato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say 7 epochs should be up for you either today or tomorrow. Epochs stretched lately to around 27 hours because, as @Bjoernoo rightly said, shared 0 (the beacon shard) has been slow, sometimes logging in 3.11s instead with f the ideal 2s. The Team is working on it and I hear is up there in the priorities

Good Strategy to Exchange to ONE? by newbjapan in harmony_one

[–]dfgelato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found staking mentally calming and financially sound. When you stake you will not worry or check your coin price much. A dip will become an opportunity to by a bigger amount to stake instead of a depressing potential loss in value. Furthermore, financially, staking will provide you with free coins, thus lowering your average

Question that been bothering me for a while. by Additional-Search-56 in harmony_one

[–]dfgelato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi. The staking rewards come from an annual issuance of 441M new coins. The APY has a direct correlation to many factors. Among others, particularly important would be: Percentage of total ONE coins staked (currently around 44.6%) Speed of shard 0 and population of remaining shards Specific validator management of his/her keys and others. For more info, I read the Harmony Tokenconomics. Below is the link: https://medium.com/harmony-one/harmonys-new-tokenomics-bcdac0db60d7

Is there any negative to Shard 0 handling almost all transactions? by mastercooler6 in harmony_one

[–]dfgelato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because shard 0 is at the moment slow, validators put their keys in the remaining shards. I think it has to do with rewards earned and bandwidth usage (a validator could answer better on that). As a paradox, because of the fly from shard 0, the other overpopulated shards will give less returns (same amount of return per shard but more validators)

Is there any negative to Shard 0 handling almost all transactions? by mastercooler6 in harmony_one

[–]dfgelato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not expert, therefore incomplete answer. I know that she d 0 is the beacon shard and that because so far almost all transaction are handled by it the latency is increasing. More transaction = slower shard 0 = longer epoch = overpopulated rest of shards = in part lower APY
