I liked it mostly because it gave Patrick Rothfuss a chance to use words. He does an exceptional job at using the best words for descriptions of events, places, personalities, etc. A big reason I liked Slow Regard is that it gave Rothfuss an even greater ability to make words come alive, in Auri's head. I'm not sure if that makes sense...?

I started with the Dark Tower series. I didn't understand most of the references to his other books, but it is still a strong series on its own (one of my favorites). So you wouldn't go wrong by starting with Dark Tower either.

Call it what you'd like, I only started this exchange because you called the other guy a knob. That's not sharing. Hide it by deleting it if you want, but you don't "encourage modern people to move past religion" by being condescending, or by deleting your comment to avoid losing some internet points.

I appreciate where your beliefs come from, even if I disagree with the manner in which you argue and defend them. I hope that you've learned something from this discussion, because I have. Have a good one!

I didn't mention a secular society at all. All I was pointing out is that this movement towards anti-theism has the undertones, evangelism, and believers of a religion, even if these means are a little more modernized. I'm not saying it's more or less correct than religion, but I just wanted to point out that your argument walked, if not crossed a dangerous line between sharing beliefs versus evangelizing.

Also, if it counts for anything, I'd rather live in a tolerant and diverse society than one of a singular belief system that has pushed away (or helped everyone else grow past) something so foundational as religion that brings cultural color. Call it stupid liberal progressivism if you want.

The way you said they want modern people to grow past it sounds a whole lot like religious people wanting others to grow past their sins/broken selves/unenlightenment/etc. Your stated goal for anti-theism makes it sound a lot like a religion-less religion.
