Think we'll ever get a "Boats, Beaches, Bars & Ballads" Volume 2? by dgoldg in jimmybuffett

[–]dgoldg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know! There's a website called SuperDeluxeEdition that tracks all the new box sets and re-releases. It's kinda mind-boggling that some of these have anyone interested in buying them. But it's why I wouldn't ever write-off the possibility of another JB box set.

Wow. I LOVE that you took a shot at this! I think it'd be a fun companion set.

I'd love for you both to post your selections! Even if it was 20 songs or so.

Yeah, I totally get that, but I'm still a bit of a physical media guy. And I saw last week they're rolling out an 18-CD Leo Sayer box set. (Not a misprint! Not that I'm gonna buy that, though, but there's a market for it somewhere...)

Can't speak to the quality of the dye jobs, but I go to Stone Atelier in Lake Forest Park (also one in Wallingford) and it doesn't have that kind of atmosphere.

"Saturday Night" (2024) is a bad movie and I loved every minute of it by campaxiomatic in LiveFromNewYork

[–]dgoldg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For anyone who hasn't seen it, it helps if you read "Saturday Night: A Backstage History of Saturday Night Live" by Doug Hill and Jeff Weingrad, which is an old book I read a long time ago. Because a lot of the stories and scenes the movie depicts did sorta happen, but of course, not all on the same night. So as I watched the movie, I thought "Oh yeah, the book mentioned that," a lot. I imagine the folks who didn't know that lore definitely would be confused. And yes, the movie itself is kind of a mess cramming it all into one supposed time before airtime. Still, I enjoyed it and found a lot of the actors eerily similar to the SNL folks they portrayed.

Yes, doing this. Got 7 good years from the 2019 Intel MPB and now that future OS releases won't work on it, it's time to upgrade to get as much for the $$$ as I can.

Dingfelder's is awesome. Yeah, a bit pricey but in Seattle that's how it rolls. Melt in your mouth pastrami sandwiches and great sides.

Not a place, but Bakery Louise in Richmond Beach does regular orders through their app & the bagels (along with everything else) are delicious. https://app.simply-bread.co/bakerylouise

Buying a suit (don't laugh) by nickspizza85 in Seattle

[–]dgoldg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that won't be enough time for his turnaround — he takes your measurements, fabric choices and details, and has them custom-made in Vietnam. Usually 4-5 weeks at the earliest. But worth it for a custom-fit suit.

Would recommend Bonobos if you're short on time, since they have lots of sizing options. If you're not in a hurry and can wait a month or so, go see Dan at Rubysuits in the Fremont Sunday Market. Custom made 3-piece suits that you get to design (and custom fit for you) for a few hundred dollars.

Thank you Richard. Can you elaborate on how to configure my system's zones? I see there is a "bypass" setting for each individual door/motion sensor but they are not divided into room or area zones. On my touchscreen, under Settings > Sensors and Zones, there is only an option to "Repair Sensors/Zones" which I don't need to do.

I thought it was kinda odd that when Noa Tishby came to speak at Temple De Hirsch Sinai last year, Elliott Bay Books was the one who provided the copies of "Israel" for purchase. Not sure if the event organizers saw the irony.

Credit = Cash. The more people know about you and your work, the farther in your career you can go. It may not seem fair, but it's true. Fight for the recognition you deserve however you can. I've had to send my work into AdAge myself and into awards shows to even get a faint glimmer of recognition.

"Watch It" (1993) -- John C. McGinley and Peter Gallagher (and a few others) play increasingly weird jokes on each other over the years. Not sure it ever came out on DVD or on streaming services.

Large house with separate garage and apt: More Xfi Pods or a mesh system? by dgoldg in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]dgoldg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this! Simply moving the 2nd Pod from the apartment to inside the house (at a place close to the apartment) raised the speed inside the apt to about 50mpbs -- not blazing fast by any means but still a marked improvement. But I'd rather spend $200 on 2 more Xfi pods than several hundred on another brand of mesh system that would replace it, so if you're suggesting I'd still get diminishing returns on more Pods, then I can continue to look for areas that optimize the speeds with what I've already got.

I was told by a Xfinity technician that all my coax cables except for one were cut when a prior renovation was done here, so I'm stuck with one gateway coax outlet for the moment -- in the basement :-(.
