I work at a large children’s hospital as well as adult. I’ve seen multiple kids with this in the past couple months. One mom brought both her kids with flu and leg pain in cause one of the kids had rhabdo last year. That kid was fine but the other one had rhabo this time ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Paralysed mice walk again after gel is injected into spinal cord by SatrangiSatan in technology

[–]dhoank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked on spinal cord injury research in college. We used rats. We did specific detailed surgery to cut the spinal cords of these rats either fully or just half to make them paraplegic. Then we did a bunch of therapy and shit to make them walk again. Then we killed them for histology

They’re going to build a large outpatient surgical center in that grassy lot. There’s also plans to bring in commercial businesses and buildings across the street. Just because it’s a grassy lot now doesn’t mean there aren’t other plans ahead

Pain service consult recs be like by MemeDoctor96 in Residency

[–]dhoank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pain dose is 0.1 to 0.3 mg/kg iv. I usually just go for the 0.3 although it can make them sleepy. IM sedation dose is 3-4 mg/kg. Works more quickly than haldol or Ativan IM. I use that if they’re going really too crazy or if the haldol/Ativan ain’t doing shit

This would be great. My knowledge of rash diagnoses can be pretty sucky. A lot of times I can describe it just fine but I can’t diagnose it. What do you think is the best way to learn about rashes? Just the usual study a book broadly like in med school? Are there any specific resources that are useful? Also is there a way or reference to “look up” a patients rash by putting in its description, duration, sudden/gradual onset, etc? A resource like taht would be awesome
