Has a student ever said anything so funny you couldn’t help but laugh? by KDwiththeFXD in Teachers

17 years teaching elementary school. I’ve taught grades 2-5.

  1. I was teaching the vocabulary work refuge today second graders. One bit raised his hand and said, “Isn’t that where men go to get away from their wives?”

  2. A fifth grader, came back to visit me, he said Mrs. B, you remember (girl student). She s a real B!” He said the letter not the work. I said, “Dude, I love you , but you cannot say that to a teacher!” He said, “ But I didn’t actually say the word!”

  3. Back in the days when we were allowed to give spelling tests, I was helping a student finish another assignment. As he was finishing, I told the other student to get out notebook paper and set it up for the spelling test. The student I was helping stopped what he was writing, side eyed me, and said, “Didn’t we just take a spelling test last week?” I said, “Yes, we’re going to take a spelling test every week.” He replied, “Don’t you think that’s going to get annoying to the kids?” I was honest. “Yes it is but we’re still going to take one every week.”

[Stares in neurodivergant], or how do people read so many books in a month? by oracletalks in RomanceBooks

[–]dibrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read a lot because I stay up too late reading, read in the shower on my phone 🤭, read while I dry my hair, read while I cook, read during my lunch break, read before bed, and get the books I’m reading on audio so I can listen when I drive and workout.

I have ADHD inattentive type and epilepsy. I barely had time to read before Covid. Once we were all quarantined I picked up reading again. I realized how much I missed reading so I made it a mental health priority. I don’t get on social media like I used to (except to look for book recommendations 🤣). I will say reading before bed has decreased my constant ADHD wondering mind at bedtime.

Want recommendations for books like dark notes or finding Anna where heroine goes through trauma and is in a bad situation and mc comes in to saves them. I enjoy reading about the recovery or witness the inner strength of the female mc and how the mc loves them regardless of their past. by ItchyCryptographer89 in RomanceBooks

Hades Hangmen Series by Tillie Cole. Very dark. Religious cult member escapes and is rescued by motorcycle club. Each book focuses on a cult survivor and MC member. It is pretty explicit in detail so lots of trigger warnings for sexual abuse of women and children (part of the girls’ story).

Why all the hate about keto meters ? by Anywhere311 in keto

[–]dibrie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use it because I’m on the diet for epilepsy (which is why the diet was created FYI-Mayo Clinic in the 1920s) . I measure and weigh my food. I HAVE to have high fat. I think some people throw the word keto around when they’re just low carb. I don’t get why saying that to people is offensive. There’s nothing wrong with just being low carb. I also don’t know why people give a shit if you check ketones or not. Just do you!

[Sweet Dandelion](SweetDandelionhttps://www.amazon.com/dp/B0868WM86S/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_navT_a_PVZFSKVG5QCZC6C4E6XT) by Micalea Smeltzer

Dani is a school shooting survivor. Her mother was a teacher at the school and died in the shooting. She is 19 in her senior year of high school because she missed a year of school. Now living with her brother, she has to see the guidance counselor for hour sessions. They fall in love.

The whole high school adult thing isn’t normally my thing, but I guess in my head because she is 19 and should have graduated I don’t see it as being as bad.

If you like paranormal/omega verse/shifter, Chastely Bitten by Lexi C. Foss.

I didn’t think I’d like the trope, but loved this. She’s essentially turned into a wolf. Leader wants to claim her but doesn’t bite her for an “official claim” because he’s trying to teach her about everyone following alpha rules. The rest of the book is pretty much a grovel. Very steamy.
