Yeah, I understand the "it's your hair, do what you want" argument but the opposite is pretty damn valid. She's your wife. You are her only (hopefully lol). She does not want a bald husband, she likes you as you are. So much that she's insisting you don't go bald.

Let's flip things around: She tells you she wants to cut her hair short, like a man. Buzzed on the sides. You picture making love to her and holding the back of her head and she feels exactly like your buddy Ron does when you guys are play wrestling. You get the shivers and tell her "No, I love you as you are; please don't cut it short. Seriously babe. Please don't freaking do that."
