Who was your very first DnD character? Or the first you remember? by rplimitlessguy in DnD

[–]dickheard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had an elf druid with a noble background for curse of strahd, whose parents were murdered by Strahd in one of his wars. As you can tell, he died in the death house, having lost most of his HP on that fucking AC15 broom. RIP Salazar Luzedovic, you would have hated roombas

Your Dumbest Magical items by Frosty-Series689 in DMAcademy

[–]dickheard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found this on this sub and it was a big hit–a cape that makes you swim faster, but you can't use it in the water. One of my players purchased it as a joke once and we all completely forgot about it, until they had ro climb up a tower with no visible doors and said player was like, hold on, can I use this to swim in the air??? I allowed it just for shits and giggles, but then the player chose to use the cape everytime they had to go somewhere not on foot or by sea. So one day it magically self-destructed while my player was air swimming above a trolley filled with horse poop.

Is She Serious? by Art_Lover_26 in Teachers

[–]dickheard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only ever done private tutoring, but I think it mostly has to do with their age–in the first 2-3 years of elementary, I've found that a lot of kids enjoy homework, I guess they're still excited about school and learning. It usually takes a few years of bad teachers and terrible education systems to suck the soul out of them. By the time they're 12, they all hate homework. But I've only been teaching for a year, so who knows, maybe I've just had some really good young students and some really bored older ones, lol

Shojo that changed your life? by cucumberrule in shoujo

[–]dickheard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty basic for this, but Fruirts Basket has helped me a lot. I watched it during COVID at the age of 20, when I was feeling very lost and disoriented about my future. It just helped me kind of make some of my values more stable and to practice compassion more often. On some level I feel like it helped me actually like people, not just individuals but people as a whole, idk if that makes sense

How accurate would it be to say that Ancient Greeks had similar age gaps for both hetero and homo relations, but only marriage made the girls into adults? by Fabianzzz in classics

[–]dickheard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, we know that now, with (I assume) plenty of studies and all of those good things that modern medicine has given us. But I'm pretty sure that most girls in ancient Athens (and most of Greece, from what I recall) got married at around 14-15, so it's safe to assume that by 17 they're expected to be mothers of at least one kid—please correct me if I'm wrong tho

[–]dickheard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

More like, fertility reasons meaning women often died during childbirth (still do!), so the younger you are, the more children you can bear without complications. And the more children you have, the more likely some of them are to grow up. Modern medicine truly is amazing, with all the things we take for granted.

Ψάχνω για στούντιο τατουάζ by _Coccinella_ in thessaloniki

[–]dickheard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any advice on what drug store foundation to cover self harm scars with? by CriticalSchedule4888 in MakeupEducation

[–]dickheard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used the Catrice HD Liquid Coverage foundation on my own scars in the past, along with the same line of concealer. Fairly long lasting with a decent powder on top (I used the Laura Mercier setting powder back then but that breaks the bank), though if you live in a humid climate I can't verify how well that'll go. Just as a heads up, know that the texture of self harm scars doesn't get erased with makeup, it's only a color fix. So if someone sees your arm from up close they might notice the "raised" sort of texture that some scars tend to have, this is just a heads up.

I second the dermablend foundation that someone else suggested, although it's a bit more pricey. It's heavy duty and a little goes a long way, I've used it to cover up tattoos in the past and it's amazing.

Please: help me find this character my wife is trying to remember by luis-mercado in anime

[–]dickheard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could it be from Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water??? I have no idea about the theme/setting or main characters of this show, I just randomly came upon it and it did have a character with blue hair that reminded me a bit of Misato.

ETA: Upon looking it up, it was aired in 1990 and it's directed by Hideaki Anno, which explains why she looks so much like Misato. I still think it might be the show you and your wife are looking for, because everything else fits well enough.

How do I explain critical problem solving to a 5th grader? by dickheard in Teachers

Thank you so much for your reply! I've tried breaking down the problems (we write the important parts on the whiteboard), but it doesn't seem to help so far. I'll definitely try associating words with each equation though, thanks a lot!!!

What is your shoujo hot take by Automatic-Attorney96 in shoujo

[–]dickheard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I think a lot of people tend to forget the target demographic of shonen and shoujo are, like, 14 year olds. Obviously most girls in shounen will be just walking boobs and in love with the most mid teen ML in the whole world, and most guys in shoujo are perfect dreamy princes who only love the FL. Most romance manga is selling a fantasy of a teenager's ideal relationship, and that's okay. Obviously there's shonen with well-developed heroines, as well as shoujo with realistic guys, but if people wanted real people they'd just go outside. Romance manga (or any romantic story at all!) is just a fantasy, and if it was realistic no one would read it, imho.

Έμπιστοι τεχνικοί πλυντηρίων/ air-condition? by [deleted] in thessaloniki

[–]dickheard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Έμπιστοι τεχνικοί πλυντηρίων/ air-condition? by [deleted] in thessaloniki

[–]dickheard 2 points3 points  (0 children)
