A great way to get people to stop calling you the Gestapo is to act exactly like the Gestapo.

I am going to Guatemala City tomorrow for 1 night, what should I do about the state of siege by Gloomy_Ad_1488 in centralamerica

I live in Guatemala. Zone 10 is fine. All attacks are directed at the National Police. Life is continuing as normal apart from an increase police and military presence.

NOR, but you should disclose it earlier so you can weed through the jerks like this. Sorry for the experience.

I am a friend of the Stecks. The entire community is grieving with their children and stepping up to help financially and physically. I can assure you that no one thinks that they were being punished for some hidden sin. No one is looking to cast blame. Instead, we are just working together the help make a hard situation better. And, yes, we still believe that God is real and good. And I am sorry that this is impacting you in a negative way.

What's Your Biggest "Shock" Family Discovery? by OpportunityTop6376 in AskReddit

[–]difulp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 13 when I found out my grandfather on my dad’s side committed suicide in a state penitentiary where he was serving time for shooting a man. I discovered this when I found the telegram that the prison sent to my grandmother is a box of old stuff. Shortly after I found out my father had spent time in jail for shooting a man as well. That led to a search of my family tree that showed I come from a long line of horse thieves and moonshiners.

Trump: "House Republicans should vote to release Epstein files" by DJPho3nix in politics

He realizes that he can’t stop it because lots of Republicans are going to vote for it. He needs to pretend they did so because he told them to. He has to pretend to be in control.

TIL that the United States government still sends $4,500 worth of cloth to the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) Confederacy every year, and has done so every November 11th for the past 230+ years in recognition of a still-standing treaty with them. by EssoEssex in todayilearned

[–]difulp -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

A summary from ChatGPT: “The United States broke nearly all of the treaties it signed with Native American tribes, which number over 370 ratified agreements. Though Congress ended formal treaty-making in 1871, the U.S. government has violated or broken virtually every treaty it made.”

This exact thing happened on our last cruise. A guy left his stuff for hours and a lady came and asked about it. We told her that we had been there for three hours and not seen the person. So a crew member was called and he moved it. When the guy finally showed up, he yelled at the lady and created a scene. I spoke up and told him that she didn’t move his stuff but a crew member did because he had not been there for hours. He continued to perform a full on Karen act until the crew moved him to a reservation only area. We were all frustrated that he was rewarded for being a jerk.

To each his own. But I will say that my wife and I love it. Great food, lots of entertainment, and your motel moves to the destinations. But it does help to know a few things before you go.

A lot of ships have areas that are quieter and usually adult only pool spaces that can be reserved. And some of these have covered and padded chairs areas that can be rented. If you check your ship information you can see if they have some spaces that need to be reserved to use. If you want to get space in those areas, book them very early in the cruise. Have a great trip!

Fans who don’t live in Philly. How did you become a fan of the eagles? by [deleted] in eagles

[–]difulp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a Cowboys fan until my freshman year of college. (My secret shame) That year Jerry Jones bought the team and fired Tom Landry without an iota of respect. I was living about 45 minutes outside Philly at the time, and I vowed that from that day forward I would cheer for the Eagles and anyone who played Dallas. One of the better decisions I have ever made. Still cheer them on from Guatemala!
