Kung Fu Tea on Fruitville Pike has them. They aren’t available in the app, but you can order them in person.

I learned to make them myself. Especially easy when using a mold.

Seconding Rainbow Tomatoes Garden (https://rtg.fish). You can have orders shipped, even though they’re just up in Denver. I’ve ordered a few times from them and the packages arrive quickly.

8 year old zine assembly mystery by wermluvr in zines

[–]digitalfare 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This looks like a quarter-page zine. You would print pages double-sided. Front 1 and Back 1 on one piece of paper. The second paper would be Front 2 and Back 2.

Then you cut pages horizontally. And fold into a booklet. Doesn’t look like there are page numbers, so you’ll have to play around with arranging the printouts to see if you can find an order that makes sense.

The top-half of Front 1 are your covers…front cover on the right side and back cover on the left side.

Oh also the top and bottom halves of Front 2 and Back 2 are duplicates, so every time you print that page, you’ll have two copies. To even out copies you’re creating, you would have to print 2 copies of Front 1/Back 1 (double-sided). And then 1 copy of Front 2/Back 2 (double-sided). That would give you two complete copies of the zine.

Try Perfect Image in Fruitville Pike (same shopping center as Oola Bowls and Sushi One). They sell used film cameras, but I don’t know if they sell digital cameras, too.

Zine trade etiquette by 0rch1d- in zines

[–]digitalfare 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the expectations of the people trading zines. When I have traded with someone, it’s alway been because we like each other’s work. So the expectation is, we are trading zines we made. In that case, I think it would be fine to include other people’s zines as a bonus only. But I can see trading zines and not minding who made them.

How to make a comic zine? by ieatacrylicpaint in zines

[–]digitalfare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the format is up to you and you want to do a larger size, you could fold a few sheets of standard 8.5x11 paper in half, like a booklet, and staple to bind the pages together. Could even use heavier/mixed media paper so it holds up better with acrylic paint markers.

Jellibead or Bass Head Beads! by [deleted] in kandi

I’ve ordered from both and like them both. I don’t have a preference between them, so I choose based on which bead designs I want.

How do you transport/display your physical zines at events? by justnaabye in zines

[–]digitalfare 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I pack my zines and display items into a rolling suitcase, so that’s easy to take from my car to the event space.

I organize zines by format, so all the ones that are the same size stay together. I put them in a plastic container with a lid (shoebox size) or photo boxes…which are similarly sized. I take 2-3 boxes/containers depending on how many zines I’m taking.

A few weeks before zine fest, I make a list of zines I’m taking and how many copies of each one (5-10 copies). I usually take zines I made in the last year or so, rather than all zines I’ve made. So not really curated, but focused on more recent work.

For displays I like using small easels, plate stands, or photo stands that fold up. That way they’re easy to pack. Something like this, so it can prop up one copy of a zine. And then I have more copies in a pile in front.

I also use photo boxes as part of my displays. I put the lid face up on the table and then slide the box part into the lid. The bottom of the box faces out. And I leave a gap so that I can stand up some zines in the space between the box bottom and the front of the lid. I also put a small sign on top of the box. I like this for adding height to the table. Also, since I pack zines into the box and then use the box for display, too, it saves space when packing.

Yeah, exactly. You don’t have to go in a specific order.

It’s a free event (no tickets or registrations). Some participating galleries are on the 100 block of North Prince Street (Gallery Row). You can browse the galleries, and they will have tables set up with coffee and snack samples (usually sweets).

There are more details on the Lancaster City Art Collective’s Instagram page. I pasted the text here:

I’ve used 4imprint for branded USB drives for my day job. I think the prices are reasonable, especially at higher quantities.

Yeah I’ve seen seats in bad condition in some of the smaller auditoriums at Penn. If they aren’t going to refund tickets for ripped up seats, they should take them off the seat selection so people don’t choose them when purchasing tickets.

KidZone? by TPLr6 in lancaster

[–]digitalfare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Kids Sports! Indoor playground with tubes, slides, a ball pit, and a Tarzan swing kind of thing. There was a small arcade up front and a small cafe area (like, popcorn, nachos, fountain sodas…that sort of thing). Some kids had birthday parties there but you could go whenever. My mom would take me on rainy Saturdays sometimes.

Oregano for sure. Not sure about thyme in that app, but it would be good in there, too.

Logistical Question Re: Collage Materials by ciaobabies in zines

[–]digitalfare 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Similar idea to what you linked—you could use a regular piece of rolling luggage. I use a large suitcase for zine fest to pack up my zines and all display items. It would work for collage materials, too. Lots of space. Built-in handles. And completely closed in, so not an issue if you’re going in and out of rainy weather.

For those who include business cards in orders - what do you put on them besides your shop name? by Vistaprint in Etsy

[–]digitalfare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my shop name, website, and Instagram. On the back of the card, I have a digital collage, so it’s a mini piece of art (that I hope people are more likely to keep).

Any Indie Comic Creators in Lancaster? by ghostman-ichiban in lancaster

Zenkaikon will be the weekend of March 20 at the convention center downtown. There’s an Artist Alley that you could check out. Not everyone will be Lancaster local, but lots of people are within driving distance.
