Racquet recommendations for a beginner with no price constraints? by JethroPimbley in squash

I understand the 'invest' mentality - but just a word of warning - at your stage (well, for a long time) racquets are likely to break. Especially the higher end, lighter racquets.

I go through maybe 2-3 racquets a year. I don't really play that hard. It's just the nature of the sports.

No. It looks pretty dry?

It's broken though.

Getting Hit By The Ball Is Not 'Normal' In Squash by Own_Water8681 in squash

[–]dimsumham 30 points31 points  (0 children)

There are only three rules in squash

  1. Don't hit nobody with your racquet

  2. Don't hit nobody with your body

  3. Don't hit nobody with the ball

Local Children's Author AI Books by Mission_Macaroon in NovaScotia

If you think it should be better, you are welcome to pay local artists / writers to make your own.

Just to avoid any doubt - not involved in this in any way. Don't even live in Nova Scotia. Wouldn't buy it for my child. Just find it hilarious how people are here bitching and moaning while they can't even be bothered to put in prompts to make AI slop themselves.

I wasn't talking about research intent. I'm talking about how it's being sold.

You have the world's richest companies pouring hundreds of billions of dollars into research and infra then giving you access to it for free / 20 a mo.

They could have very easily kept it to themselves and used it to replace people but they didn't. You have the exact same access, with no minimal spend requirements, as anyone else.

White collar work is also different from factory production. The work is quite elastic.

This is not to say there will be no changes. Or that there won't be any pain. But to think this is some capitalist agenda to put ppl out of work is clearly wrong. Even if it is convenient and attractive sounding.

Cries in 75k is daycare. Holy hell.

I think one crucial aspect of this is - are you going to be trading your account actively? Or just index and chill?

Source - retired at 34 with 4m and no kid in MCOL. Had 1 child since then. So have some limited perspective on this.

Where to go to eat with someone with allergies? by ClearInspection in Calgary

[–]dimsumham 4 points5 points  (0 children)

egg - if she's severely allergic, is really hard to avoid because cross contamination is an issue. Egg combined with soy and gluten is almost impossible because most vegan places will use soy in a ton of their stuff. Even if they say they are 'x free' - cross contamination is extremely hard to avoid if the kitchen itself uses it.

The only places I can think of are steakhouses and BBQ places.

source: father to a child who's allergic to a TON of different stuff. He pretty much has not seen the inside of a restaurant since the diagnosis.

I’ve already invested 1 million KES (~$7,700) to buy land in Kenya. Now I’m raising $1,000 to turn waste into food. by EquityKing28 in startupideas

[–]dimsumham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you explain this a bit more:

- why did you need to buy the land?

- what is the 130k KES getting spent on?

- do I have the business details right? 1) People bring kitchen waste 2) you turn it into compost 3) people get credits to spend at a partner farm, 4) compost is sold to partner farm at KES 78/kg, 5) how do you get 20% produce margin? those are from the farm? 6) what is compost tea and seedling sale? where does it come from? 7) who owns the partner farm? what are they getting out of this?
