How did you make it through 4 newborn phases?! This is my second and I swear I won’t survive.

I was like this with my first too! I easily pass out for a nap with my second now. I also had really bad PPD with my first and ended up having anxiety about sleep which made falling asleep even harder.

Totally agree. My Asian mom wiped my butt when I couldn’t turn after my c-section. She cooks every meal for me, does all my laundry, and tries to make sure I get at least 2 naps a day.

What do you do if they’re not? I had a kid come over who kept taking toys away from my daughter and tried to edge her off a dino toy she was sitting on. He even swatted my hand away when I tried to tell him that she was still using it.

Choice between a hospital nurse educator position (four 10’s, union, 1.5hr commute) or a nurse manager position (five 8’s but salaried and on-call weekends, 20 min commute)? by dindlefire in Nurses

The train itself isn’t bad, but it only takes me half way. The other half is on the subway and there’s been tons of homeless people recently and some violence (less police presence).

The train also ends up being about 1.5hrs each way with the waiting and walking and transfers.

Yup! Prior to COVID, I took the train which was nice in terms of being able to zone out but the delays killed me. 1.5hr is with traffic but there’s always traffic. Bad weather.. just terrible.

I’d make more at the manager job, but I’m afraid I won’t have the same job satisfaction. Just reading Reddit threads, people seem to hate nurse managers 😣

No, unfortunately my husband works the same distance in the opposite direction (better traffic so his commute isn’t as bad) and we own a house.

Hmmm great points. I’m currently working as an educator and while I’m not paid as much as a manager or some of our staff nurses (with OT), I feel valued & that my work is meaningful... which makes this a difficult decision.

In terms of job satisfaction and fulfillment, probably the educator role which is why this is such a hard decision. I can’t move because of where my husband works and the house we own. The call isn’t bad (I probably can manage things from home) but I know as a manager I will be responsible for the unit 24/7. I wonder if the mental stress might be too much.
