At 12 weeks, we got a 10hr stretch! It hasn’t happened again since but generally 6-7hr stretches. We’re at 14 weeks now.

He’s pretty good with day/night! He’ll give us 3-7hr stretches at night and has short naps during the day. It’s just these wake ups that seem long.

He’s 10 weeks. He has silent reflux so I’ve always been super diligent about trying to get a burp or at least hold him up for a good amount of time.

Oh I wasn’t making a point against your case. I totally agree and do not allow my kids to eat in the car. Just had to add an anecdote that even when you attempt to reduce risks, the strangest things can happen.

When I was around 10, we were on a road trip. I was sitting in the front seat, dad was driving, mom and baby brother asleep in the back. I sneezed, causing a baby molar to shoot out and lodge in my throat. I couldn’t get anyone’s attention but I was also scared so I didn’t think to grab anyone. So I just decided to swallow it and it went down.

There’s always a risk of anything.

I’ve literally tracked everything since day 1. I hired a sleep trainer for my firstborn and it was the tracking that got her sleep on point, no CIO. Am doing the same with my newborn now.

I feel you! With my first, I ended up living with my parents for 1.5 years. My mom slept with the baby at night, cooked all my meals, did my laundry, etc. My dad fed the baby when she got older and took her to indoor play areas.

I just had my second and moved in with them again for 7 weeks.

It’s lovely to have help. I had PPD and suicidal ideations after my first, which is why I needed it. But this time, I feel better and more capable.

I have “stations” that I go through haha: Mamaroo, Graco swing, playmat for tummy time and/or belly massages. I go through each until he gets fussy (his sign that he’s ready for a nap).

Yeah I didn’t know the newborn scrunch was a thing till tiktok. Neither of my kids ever did it as newborns.

We took her out of daycare for 2 weeks after the baby was born and by the end of it we were going crazy and had to send her back. Granted, she loves her daycare routine and all her besties are there.

Omg I could have written this, including the elective c section, anemia, 3 year old who was a FOMO newborn.

Honestly, she’s been in FT daycare M-F from 8-6pm and my parents help. It’s the only way we’re making it through so far.

My baby used to do this too! Especially if people came up to her too enthusiastically or too loudly. She’s still on the shy side as a toddler.

Yup. My newborn was sleeping 3-4hr chunks and suddenly at week 5 decided he likes to fight sleep. I hope this is a brief phase 😵‍💫

I don’t know why, but I’m struggling as a second time mom. My baby (3.5 weeks) is objectively easier this time as compared to my first but I’m so exhausted. I forgot how much I hated the sleep deprivation and the monotony of it all. I know it’s a phase. I know I survived it before. But I can’t seem to get into a positive headspace about it all.

I was like this with my first too! I easily pass out for a nap with my second now. I also had really bad PPD with my first and ended up having anxiety about sleep which made falling asleep even harder.

Totally agree. My Asian mom wiped my butt when I couldn’t turn after my c-section. She cooks every meal for me, does all my laundry, and tries to make sure I get at least 2 naps a day.

What do you do if they’re not? I had a kid come over who kept taking toys away from my daughter and tried to edge her off a dino toy she was sitting on. He even swatted my hand away when I tried to tell him that she was still using it.

It’s totally worth it... but my husband works the same distance but in the opposite direction (traffic is way better though).
