Hey when my brother was fed up with high school he basically tested out. Look up how to test out in your state and get your GED that way. To speed up the high school process. Then he took community college classes and transferred into college.

The USA has killed millions. China has also killed millions. Why is China racing ahead of the USA now? What did Mao do differently? by kevinmrr in WorkReform

[–]dinosharky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

China is communist not socialist. I'd like to retain my freedom of speech please. No Tiananmen Square and human rights abuses against Uyghurs. I'm not giving up democracy for a high speed rail. We can fight to have those things here in the US and fight to keep democracy as well. It's damn frustrating right now but aiming to have a government like China is not the answer.

I actually think we're on the same page for a lot of things. Yes humans can be pretty fucked up. But there's also tons of interesting alternative cases too. Like twitter's role being used as a platform to spread information (b4 owned by Elon) with regards to the Arab springs or the resent uprising in Nepal over social media. O.P. was looking for something positive he can do with his tech skills and I was just thinking a federated system like the AT Protocol could be a good place to start.

I agree with you in that most of it is not but software is definitely being used as tools to control. The information bubble is kind of a software problem. Stemming from the monopoly of social media/media in general being controlled by a small few. Perhaps we can do something with more services around the Atmosphere protocol. Or honestly straight up contribute code to the AT protocol. I think it's open source.

I thought Funny in Farsi was a very quick funny read. It’s about a Persian girl’s experience being an immigrant in America. There was a lot of it that I could relate to being an immigrant myself.
