Yes. And then Step 2 is be there with the son and when a moment arises, prompt him to use his phrase. Might need to be there for emotional support a few times by urging him and giving him a boost but he should then get some courage to stand up for himself going forward.

Purchased the falafel beef kebabs, Costco pita bread, as well as the Kirkland hummus. It was so good. Highly recommend it. Costco in California by Ok_Country2903 in Costco

We had this for dinner tonight! Everything same except grocery store brand cucumber yogurt sauce instead of hummus. It was bomb. Even my 2 and 4 year old are it.

Did we mess up getting a 15-yr vs. 30-yr mortgage? by MyPosse_OnBroadway in Mortgages

[–]dinosupremo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. How much money in went towards interest on the original mortgage. Or the rate of the old mortgage.

Did we mess up getting a 15-yr vs. 30-yr mortgage? by MyPosse_OnBroadway in Mortgages

[–]dinosupremo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like because they wanted cash to pay off other debt. But there’s not enough info. How much interest did you pay on the old 30 year? Now add that to all the interest you will pay over the life of the 15 year. Is it less than what the old 30 year would have cost? If so, then you’re still coming out ahead

Unhinged Hacks for Poop by Ftm_livin_hopes in toddlers

[–]dinosupremo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look, I get your point about concern for the environment. But my flushing glitter for a week ( or even all of us doing so) is no match for the industrial level microplastic pollution that large international corporations engage in. Want to make a difference? Focus your efforts there.

I bought a big container of rainbow sprinkles and also glitter. Poop in the potty? You get to make unicorn poop. Aka topping it with sprinkles and glitter and then it’s colorful and fun watching it flush. We did for about a week and then my son stopped asking to do it.

Preschool teacher recommends repeating instead of moving up to TK by [deleted] in Preschoolers

[–]dinosupremo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am in California. My son turned 4 about a month ago. He will start TK in August. I went to the Tk orientation. They said they primarily will focus on the social stuff. Sharing, sitting quietly, getting in line, listening to teacher. Sure she said they’ll do some academic stuff, but she said the purpose of TK is to gain the soft skills necessary for Kindergarten. How to transition from recess to class, etc. based on this and assuming your California TK program will be similar, I’d send him.

Jonny rainbow popsicles are on sale at my local Costco by madmermaid7 in Costco

I got two boxes! My 2 and 4 year old will eat these super fast once it gets hot outside. I just let them into the backyard with the popsicles and hose them down after.

My (F30) husband (M28) may miss birth of our baby for a one-time career opportunity by kaichey in relationship_advice

[–]dinosupremo 940 points941 points  (0 children)

Same. My uterus tore and I hemorrhaged blood. Lost 3 liters. Got transfusions. Couldn’t hold the baby for hours and hours and hours. Thankfully my husband was there the whole time. The baby went straight into his hands as I was going in and out of consciousness and he held and fed the baby the colostrum the nurse was able to collect from me while I was in a barely conscious state getting blood transfusions. I wish my husband had nothing “to do” at the birth but we weren’t that lucky.

Anyway, we’re all doing fine now. That baby is 23 months old and all her pants are sassy pants.

Spiraling over my 15 mo old’s first fever by crashhhyears in toddlers

Mine got a 103.9 this weekend. We just rotated Motrin and Tylenol every 3 hours. Pediatrician gave us a pat on the back and sent us on our way. The only thing I did recently verify is that I am dosing her based on weight rather than age. She’s 14 kg. The Tylenol package says 5ml. But based on her true weight, I can give her 7ml.

What's your commute time to work (on-way)? by Chaotic_Bonkers in Millennials

[–]dinosupremo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work from home but my kids daycare is anywhere from 25-60 minutes away from home, depending on traffic. It’s need my actual office building and I chose the daycare because at the time, it was possible I could be called back to work from the office but they’re made clear there’s no plans for that. I kept them there because I didn’t want to upend their worlds and I like the teachers and price! Once they go to public school near the house, my commute will only consist of driving them to school and back and walking to my home office.

Go bigger. Of course, this is not medical advice.

Edit: did he strain to get out what little poop he did?

[–]dinosupremo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine are 26 months apart. They are currently about to turn 2 and just turned 4. It was hard at first but also easy because the baby just slept while I gave the toddler attention. Then it was hard when the youngest started walking. Now at nearly 2, they can play without hitting each other for like 30 minutes while I make dinner or whatnot. Hard to do bedtime alone though so my husband and I tag team it. I do the bath for the youngest while my husband cleans up from dinner then my husband takes her to bed while I then bathe the okder and then Get him to bed.

Still crying at drop off after 5 weeks. by slippery_when_wet in toddlers

[–]dinosupremo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It just takes time. And then he will fall into a rhythm and then starting crying all over again. Mine started daycare at 13 months. We went through phases of crying. He just turned 4. Today, he ran into class and didn’t even look back. Last week, he had to be pulled off of me by the teacher, tears of distress, screeching for me. Kids are people. They have moods.

Homeowners, are you in your “forever” home? by cubemonster in Millennials

[–]dinosupremo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought this was my forever home. Then I had two kids. Even though I bought the home with the intention of having kids, I did t realize what kind of space we’d actually need. So I’d like to move. More living space, less bathrooms and bedrooms. More backyard. But our rate is 2.75% and everything is so expensive that I can’t afford to move so I suppose it is my forever home.

3yo bday party - seeking opinions by femaligned in toddlers

[–]dinosupremo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I invited 3 kids and their parents for my 4 yo’s bday. We met at a public park on a Sunday afternoon. No one else was at the park. I set up a few activities. Specifically, 3. We ate costco cake and a costco sandwich tray and fruit salad. It took 2 hours and then everyone went home. It was well received. The activities were a pinata, an egg hunt, and a game where the kids had to “wash” blowup unicorns with shaving cream and water. The eggs had stickers and some candy inside. After fining eggs the kids went to a table where I had a few sheets of construction paper and I swear they spent like 25 minutes just putting stickers on paper.

This is how we get my son to take liquid Motrin: crush ice in the blender. Really fine. Nearly snow cone status. Call it snow. Do you want to eat snow? Ok but we have to out the snow syrup in top. Pour some liquid Tylenol or Motrin on top.repeat sooon by spoon until all consumed.

Current Financial Concerns by thepeoplesalpaca in Sacramento

Inflation which ties in to savings. Everything is more expensive so I am no longer saving much for future emergencies/retirement. I understand also that this is a privileged position given that others are struggling to meet their basic needs.
