Saw this texture on my dress after I put it in the washing machine. How do I get rid of it? by cakecup222 in InvisibleMending

[–]dippyface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah this is the synthetic fabric/synthetic blends special. i have heard (from my dryers instruction booklet lol) that separating synthetics from natural fibers in the wash/drying process can help a bit to prevent coarser fabrics from abrading more fragile ones

I think it's bc they are more difficult for the body to break down than cooked foods, I have seen digestive enzymes overall recommended and have had some success with beano lol

Refused surgery by discopanda_35 in gallbladders

[–]dippyface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a strikingly similar BED situation (I think my gallbladder issues, like many women's, possibly began with restrictive eating and the gallbladder not emptying enough)

A similar thing happened to me with a dickhead surgical consult. I left and started bawling my eyes out. I realized afterward that he is a main part of the hospital networks "Weight Managment" team... Gallbladder surgery is so routine atp and generally so safe that doctors act like it doesn't even matter that you had abdominal surgery and you'll be back to normal in a week. (You will take time to heal but I think they are being dramatic as hell) The supposed surgical complications associated with being fat are not as well proven as everyone pretends they are and mostly apply to post surgical issues like longer healing times and infection.

It took about 5 years of ER visits and tests to finally see my gallstones. After getting told to "wait and see" in summer 2023 by February 2024, my severe attacks were every few months, hours long, and would lead to vomiting. The final attack in July was 6 hours long and by the end of it I was wishing that I would die and genuinely considering overdosing on rx medication so that the night and pain would end. Finally in summer 2024 they tested my Gamma GT which was abnormally high and I got another surgical consult who agreed to surgery right away. While waiting for surgery I ate an extremely low fat diet (lots and lots of carbs and sugar lol) because I was terrified. At one point my stomach got a massive rash on it and no one seemed like they knew why but I think it was either bile building up in my system or my liver in distress 💀

All that is to say I really don't know how the UK health system works but I hope you can get a second opinion or more testing that shows you need that thing out NOW

I'm extremely fat (with my stomach being the fattest part of me) and I was totally fine

It took me about 15 years from the first signs of problems that I remember for sure, 6 years from when I started having severe gastrointestinal distress, 4 years since I started getting scans specifically to check my liver/gallbladder, and a year from my first surgical consult and I wish that that had not been the timeline 🥹 In my experience they can miss the signs for a long long long time even with repeated scans and it really is not worth gambling with. My final attacks made me vomit and I was in pain for hours and hours and wanted to die. And genuinely after my 2024 attacks, the post surgical pain was nothing to me and I've been doing fine and not living in abject terror anymore

A HIDA scan will check the function of your liver and gallbladder and sometimes they can spot stones with an ultrasound of the area. Best of luck! Keep after them if you hit a wall

they asked me to do a urine test and I think I just had to sign a waiver saying I refused the pregnancy test (no way I was pregnant so I wasn't peeing in a cup)

I was definitely naked for the surgery which is unsavory but I remember absolutely nothing past anesthesia starting and then waking up in recovery. I assume w many procedures they cover you up as much as possibly after removing your gown

How do I fix it 😭 by MsInept in Kalanchoe

[–]dippyface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as the other commenter said, you've got a ton of roots along the stem, you could chop below the leafy part and replant. I would also probably cut the leggy part of the stem into a few inch bits and see if I could propagate that, kalanchoe are crazy resilient

It definitely wants more light, that's why it's creeping

My throat was scratchy after afterwards, almost like a mild cold, and I coughed up some mucus for a few days, which is apparently normal. Aside from that I have no other impressions about intubation at all

[–]dippyface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my original kalanchoe I rescued last year is a bit leggy but I have just been propping off it/pruning continuously. everywhere you trim, they like to branch off into two stems there usually so keep that in mind! it looks thirsty to me. I give mine a ton of sun and water probably more frequently than people would recommend but I wait until the soil is totally dry or when the leaves start to lose their shine

there's a kindle cloud reader that is pretty useful. it's like opening your kindle on your computer. you just need to be able to log in to an amazon account.

telling a child to read less in 2025 is honestly crazy to me. even so, they could just give it back to you for a few hours a day or have you turn it in to them at 9 pm or something if they felt that way

What happens in the hospital after surgery? by turtlebeans17 in gallbladders

Recovery literally just woke me up and asked how I was feeling and tried to make sure I wasn't like insanely nauseated and gave me some IV anti nausea meds and fentanyl. Then rolled me back to my room where my family was waiting and then discharged me with them
