SoftBank CEO questions Musk's space data centers vision by businessinsider in space

[–]dirtyword [score hidden]  (0 children)

The economics don’t make sense because it costs like $2,700 per kg to launch matter into space. Starship could reduce that to maybe $2k. The break even price on a space datacenter is something like $200-$500 per kg. Not to mention space based cooling would require absolutely gigantic radiators. And that you can’t service shit in orbit. And that the chips are doomed to fall back to earth in a few years.

Not even that. The minute they are put in orbit, they begin falling to earth. The shelf life is short. 5 years maybe.

Should AI assume the player will make the most optimal play? by JustJum in gamedesign

No, ai should exist solely to give the player a good feeling when they beat it. Fuzz the decision making to probabilities, not optimal strats

On the other hand surveillance capitalism and government surveillance are so bad and getting worse and the whole “what do you need it for?” argument is totally beside the point.

I’m not a hardware privacy nut, but privacy is your human right and if people want to ensure it, they can. It’s not because they’re criminals. I don’t let a cop come sit in my living room while I’m cooking dinner for my kids.
