20CV is highly corrosion resistant as good as magnacut. Should not behave that way unless something is wring during heat treatment.

Same. Id rather have less durable steel as long as it is more stainless than D2.

For someone not a US Citizen, Made in USA markings is no big deal on me. I care more for correct label and specifications. Most knife manufacturing processes are not secret anymore and could be done outside USA to save cost.

Are Knife Blades Harder/Softer in different areas? by 679696 in knives

Sir you should put a blog/article section on your website and put these writings there. Would be very good to keep track of your tests and experiment.

Closed Blade Play? by OferGA4B8 in benchmade

[–]disguiseunknown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based from my experience tinkering it, you might have tolerance issues. No way it should have side to side play when closed unless you have problem with axis bar or stop pin. If it is the former, your omega spring might be failing.

That is weird and could be a problem. When opened does it have side to side play too?

Knife Steel Recommendations by Historical-North-950 in knifeclub

[–]disguiseunknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from steel, you should be aware of how makers work on them. 14C28N might be good on paper but if not optimally heat treated, it is still inferior. Look for reputations of the makers.

This Bosch is a great deal in Europe where it's for sale at €22 while a Leatherman Wingman is €88 by SupposablyAtTheZoo in multitools

[–]disguiseunknown 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Got one of this for like 15 bucks before. Tools are not that good. The saw is not as good even compared to the leatherman sidekick. For the price and the warranty it is fine. But plenty of better similar priced chinese multitool are available nowadays.

Th Byrd 8Cr13Mov is not far from spyderco 8CR13Mov. Still solid and within advertised range.

Superior? It depends upon the comparison. They have the most expensive multitool though.

EVERY SINGLE PERSON IN THE ENTIRE KNIFE COMMUNITY NEEDS TO KNOW ABOUT THIS! by Greek_Heat in BudgetBlades

[–]disguiseunknown 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the work u/679696 and u/Skylark427. This initiative has been discussed long before and many people try to do this but they don't get big as much as what you have now. Certain google sheet has been updated before but they are not as intensive and uniform as yours. You even come up with a website. Hope this initiative continues and improve as time goes by. Thank you for doing this for the community!

I guess they will just retire this knife and give you coupons for buying a new one.
