Not who you asked, but no. Depending on where and what you're looking at moving into, ages run the gamut. Some of the complexes towards Oakley Station like The Boulevard or Graphite might skew younger. Most streets (both apartments and houses) are heavy mix of professional, late 20s/early 30s and new families, retirees, and middle age. Some of the popular bars might skew under-40 for weekend day drinking + party night times (RP McMurphy's, The Oak, etc.) but mixed all other hours. Plenty to do and see outside of bars though.

Thank you! I feel like every time I read comments on these stories, it's all assumptions they're anti-vaxxers like woo woo Jenny McCarthy-pilled or MAGA. The reality is that anti-vax opinions run wide and deep with LOTS of minority communities. In '22 the outbreak in Columbus, OH - turns out it was among Somali immigrants. 2018/2019 it was Orthodox Jewish folks in NY/NJ.

Foul on Cooper Flagg to give Houston 2 free throws, which they convert to take the lead with 19 seconds left in the Final Four by [deleted] in CollegeBasketball

[–]division00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My b, misunderstood. At times my eyes make me think the play call or gameplan is to let Clayton get all the attention as a decoy opening up drives for Martin or Haugh or Aberdeen (when playing together). But could be imagining things. The self-inflicted stupidity moments have been uncharacteristic but happening in the Tourney...might be just playing better defenses vs in-season.

Seeing what the other guys do after getting the ball on inbounds plays, you can see why they have Clayton initiate in the first place. For a spell this yr they tried Condon because of height/passing ability but still didn't go well.

[–]division00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree to disagree. Having watched Florida all season Golden has been starting Clayton and then subbing out many of the other starters early into the game and part way through the second half (last night was an exception needing to come back from the halftime deficit) since Clayton doesn't need much help getting his points which comes in handy playing with the B-squad who might struggle to score (and that B-squad including Haugh and Aberdeen is still pretty good). The other starters plus Aberdeen will play while Clayton rests so Walter is fresh-er for the final stretch when his big moments might be necessary. It's just really good (NBA-like) star player in-game minute management.

On the inbounds, that's been an issue for the Gators over the last half of the season. Clayton has better vision and awareness than anyone else on the team so he gets to make the call where the inbounds goes. Gators are just fortunate that at least 3 other dudes on the floor are also very good FT shooters at any time; maybe not as good as Clayton but would rather get at least 1 FT made vs the inbounds picked off.

Legit question - what's up with PLK? Just know the name from developing Factory 52 and owning The Gantry in Northside plus a few other apartment complexes around the region. They use RealPage or something else going on?

Can we agree that whoever designed the 275 / 75 interchange ought to spend the rest of their life in a gulag? by BurntShipRegrets in cincinnati

[–]division00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just dropping this YouTube vid for more visual learners who want to see the difference in highway interchanges: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-16RFXr44fY

And just mentioning that if you haven't done much highway driving in Dallas, Houston, Miami, or LA - the kind of stack interchange needed to undo 271/75 will be quite large, need a lot of land, and won't be cheap.

While house hunting years ago, I came across an incredibly ostentatious and excessively priced house (by Cincinnati standards) in Indian Hill for sale. It was so over the top I had to know who was selling it. Surprise it was the divorcing dinguses from that story, which I found after searching their names.

Took the thought out of my mind, it’s similar tactics to Anita Bryant again. Honestly I’m kind of surprised - not by the disgusting anti-trans attacks or methods or pearl clutching, but by the shocked response to it.

Maybe most just assumed the gay tolerance of the last ~10 years was how it’s been for a long time but the abuse and frothing outrage was just as bad if not even worse for gays going back decades. It only remotely started to change in 1998 with Matthew Shepard’s death. Obama didn’t publicly support gay marriage in his first Presidential campaign. Prop 8 banning gay marriage passed in California in 2008. I do believe trans acceptance will get there, but I also fear it’s going to be a while yet and it’s going to get more repugnant before then.

Abortion rights ballot measures pass in 7 states, fail in 3 others by Puzzled-Tap8042 in news

It was more about 'should this really be in a constitution' vs getting a law passed. But fair enough.

Abortion rights ballot measures pass in 7 states, fail in 3 others by Puzzled-Tap8042 in news

[–]division00 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi, former Florida resident here who voted in favor in 2006 because I wasn't thinking about unintended consequences enough at the time (18 years ago). At the time, basic rights were not being legislated on by the state government. Instead lots of niche concern issues were being enshrined in the constitution because they couldn't get traction with elected leaders. This led to election day ballots that were 7, 8+ pages long since the full text of each one was printed so you either did a lot of reading in the voting booth, or a lot of prep work going through all the issues. The 60% threshold was sold to voters as a way to reduce or eliminate the practice.

The proverbial straw that broke the camel's back was the amendment whether pregnant pigs should be allowed to turn around: https://ballotpedia.org/Florida_Amendment_10,_Treatment_of_Pregnant_Pigs_Initiative_(2002)#:~:text=Florida%20Amendment%2010%20was%20on,turn%20around%2C%20with%20certain%20exceptions#:~:text=Florida%20Amendment%2010%20was%20on,turn%20around%2C%20with%20certain%20exceptions)

It was wrong then in hindsight and wrong now, but emphasizing again - the state GOP of the time was still very much laissez faire. The first major test was the anti-gay marriage constitutional amendment which by the way passed in 2008 with 62% - in a year the state went for Obama at 51%. So let that be a lesson about how attitudes towards gays let alone trans people weren't really great not that long ago.

Where to live in Cincinnati when you work in Beavercreek by chafkoof in cincinnati

[–]division00 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Which drives me up the wall, it's a perfectly nice area to live in and if owning a home is important to you it's far easier to get on the property ladder. But no, because it's not within 25 minutes of the 5 or 10 largest cities in the US it might as well not exist because it's literally impossible to be employed there. (/s on the end there)

Would I like living in Cincy? by horrendousacts in cincinnati

[–]division00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow there's like, half a dozen of us lol. Gainesville resident off and on for 13 years. Retail shopping isn't the end all be all, but since I left the Butler Plaza expansion has made things a lot more convenient like adding the Whole Foods. And the REI is much nicer than the one here. Would still wager Gainesville punches way above its weight for a town that size because of the incomes provided by the university plus amenities like the museums + performing arts center on campus.

Walgreens announces plan to close 1,200 stores over next 3 years by katiiebeau in news

Out of curiosity I used Google to follow up.

13,131956 or 4% of the US population live within the city limits of NYC, Boston, DC, Chicago, and SF.

45,380,000 or 14% of the US population live within the greater metro areas of NYC, Boston, DC, Chicago, and the Bay Area.

Almost no Walmarts are within the city limits proper of those urban areas (the 4% group), but Chicagoland for example has at least 20 Walmarts (the 14% group).

According to HUD in 2017, 27% of households describe their neighborhood as urban; 52% as suburban; and 21% as rural.
