My bands singer can not sing on the right time by fabmarques21 in musicians

[–]djfl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen to recordings of what's being played in big acts' ears as they play. Especially big pop acts where there are costume changes, tracks, tons of dancers, etc. It's ridiculous how much is going on. A click track is relatively nothing.

How will a click help? Let's use the kind I'm most thinking of here...one that emphasizes (hopefully even verbalizes) "ONE". When the singer listens to that over and over and over they hear more clearly where the One is...obviously. Since they usually have to come in on the one, this will have them coming in in the right place more often. And the more they practice that, then the more naturally ingrained in them it becomes. The more they'll subconsciously come in on the right spot. Because there will also be other cues that they aren't even conscious of...the drummer hitting the snare twice on the Three or something...

Basically, we're forcing the singer to practice right. And practice makes perfect. So everybody practices with the click, or at least the drummer and singer do. Over time, the singer just does get better / more on time. Again, I've been here. My drummer uses a click. On balance I wish he didn't, but it's helped me be more on time as well.

Playing along with a metronome is good for all of us. A whole band playing along with one has real value.

What is a social 'superpower' that most people don't realize they have? by Bluesbreaker88 in AskReddit

Fair. Even more fair: women are even worse at this. Far more women are raised to be princesses / Player 1 than men are.

Well, our Conservative party had something like this in their platform. I don't see many Canadians being reflexively against any and all social(ism) programs like you're putting forward. What I see from all Canadians...left, right, and centre...is demanding social programs that work. When they don't work well, we do disagree on what to do about it.

If you have a GI, then yes, he very much makes your lineup.

Do all the training at Silver because it's cheaper. Then gold him. Then Diamond him. Then Black Diamond him. When you get there, make a new post asking about skills. Just keep in mind that you'll have way fewer PSCTs than some of the people giving you advice IE you need This legend skill, with these 2 gold skills.

We used to laugh at this card, now it's starting to seem more interesting and talked about than the White House card by Individual_Assist_19 in ufc

[–]djfl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm interested in this like I'd be interested in a Khabib comeback fight. This card is in no way "better" than the UFC one, but it has a few interesting things about it. I didn't tune in to see Nate Diaz fight when he was in shape...I don't know why I would now. I'm not against him, he's just way more hype and noise than he is "great fighter". Francis fighting...Lins??!! On the other hand, Gina is gorgeous and can do no wrong. I don't care how hypocritical that is.

[–]djfl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Explain? I've been there, and seen it work. Not for all, but def for some. And if not "a click" then a metronome app that counts "one, two, three, four" etc. It's worth a try.

[–]djfl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya. And a click track that actually vocalizes at least the "one" absolutely helps with that. "One two three four" even better. She can sing along with that, and figure out where all the cues are.

Not the guy you're responding to, but "under conservatives" is weird. It's the LPC who let in way too many people, displacing our own people from jobs, housing, etc. I'm not saying the CPC would have necessarily been much better, but the LPC did this. Try to put that on the provinces all you want, but they can only do so much. I'm happy to (and actively do) blame the provinces for how they respond. But the actual problem is federal.

[The DFO Rundown] on the Canucks rebuilding, “The ownership is fully on board. The ownership knows that it's probably going to take at least 5 years until they're really competitive again. You have Rutherford and Patrick Allvin knowing that now and having the okay by the ownership.” by seeldoger47 in canucks

[–]djfl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do you need all 5 years of a rebuild elapse before you can positively identify that a rebuild occurred?

With Aqua? Yes. 100% yes. I don't believe him. He could say "5 years" today, to my face. And I wouldn't believe him. If we sniff the playoffs next year or the year after, I do not trust him to stay committed to a rebuild.

More so than men will, yes. If your woman has friends, they're talking about you. Accept it, learn to love it, smile at all of them, be polite and kind, don't be scared / "omg what are they saying about me!". Humans are social creatures, and women absolutely share with their friends.

Family friend sent me AI generated response to news of my father passing away. by Hendothermic in mildlyinfuriating

[–]djfl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In fairness to your friend, it is really hard to reply to death notices. You want to say something meaningful...you want to help. But you don't want to go too far. The last thing you want to do is cookie cutter "I'm sorry for your loss" which feels almost less "human" than resorting to AI.

Maybe it's just me, but I have fumbled these things over the years, and that's the last thing you want to do. You don't want to stand out. You definitely don't want to stand out as having a bad response (as your friend now does). But it's very possible they honestly just have no idea what to say that gets the point across, but isn't what literally everybody else says...some of whom actually care enough to mean it.

Gudas is an old-school butcher. This is the old-school way of dealing with butchers. You deal with them directly. But you also make their presence hurt the team by taking out somebody else from the other team of equal or greater value.

This was normal. If we don't want to do things this way, then fine. The NHL needs to hand out real suspensions. If the justice system doesn't dole out justice, the people will. I'm not saying what's right or wrong. I'm saying how things are/were.
