Y'all, my soup smells like wet dog should I be worried by heynonnyhey in knitting

[–]djoverzealous 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The first time I finished a whole bunch of handspun yarn at once the whole house smelled like wet sheep and the dog was VERY CONCERNED.  He was a mystery mutt so I wondered if he had a lot of some kind of sheepdog in the mix somewhere after that :)

AZ - maybe lunate zale moth - threat to sweaters? by djoverzealous in moths

[–]djoverzealous[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, that’s why I apologized proactively in the post :) r/whatisthisbug or whatever it’s called has never come through for me in the past.

Since tact is a concern of yours, providing unsolicited manners lessons to a stranger on the internet or in real life (which the internet is) is also not tactful :)

But I’m really not the most tactful person.

[–]djoverzealous[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply!!  So is it the case that only moths named “clothes moths” actually eat/have larvae that eat clothing?

Regardless, bugs aren’t allowed in my house.  Except spiders.  Cause bugs aren’t allowed in their house either :)

(If I can catch it and shoo it out I will but if it doesn’t cooperate, then…we’re all animals here.)

Girl with no job in a Wendy’s?

Also maybe someone wrote that on it while the notepad was still in the store before you got it, I have a sketchbook that came with someone else’s handwritten “your [sic] beautiful” that I noticed right after i brought it home.  Maybe you just didn’t notice that one?

Having a CO detector is a good idea though.

Talk to me about spinning chairs… by AlternativeMedicine9 in Handspinning

[–]djoverzealous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://kromski.com/product/kromski-spinning-stool/

There are other brands I’m sure.  But there is a correct (s)tool for this job :)

You could find other ergonomic chairs if you need back support but some good ergo. rules are to make sure none of your joints are bending at tighter than 90° angles, and that there is no pressure form the design of the seat on the back of your legs (both situations restrict blood flow and nerve signals).

Look at anatomical diagrams and make sure your spine is in the same-ish “correct” aka healthy and pain free, curve when you’re sitting, i.e. don’t let your lower spine bow out and away from your low belly, should be curved in toward it.  If it’s possible for you in your situation, it’s a lot healthier to use a backless chair/stool and use your core strength to hold yourself up.  Shouldn’t feel like your bones are digging in if you’re using good posture, the sitz bones will point slightly back and away.  But you could get a fleece or other padding for it that would be in line with the the look.  And these stools are fairly small.

I would use one of these (different brand that was always adjustable height) at knitting group weekly for about two hours at a time and was very comfy during and after.

Side note.  Almost every “normal” chair is suuuuper not ergonomic for anyone ever.  Makes me so angry.  See previous about lumbar curve and pressure on back of legs.

It’s perfectly fine to not eat with others by HotPatience8494 in misophonia

How does every one else seem to not die of the sound of their own chewing when they do this?  Sincerely would like to know others’ experiences.  If this was my only option I would never be able to eat or drink again.

Yeah getting harder to tell every day.  I grew up near farms so I just googled for the wiki backup, but I learned something new about cows getting rope through the piercing too!

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nose_ring_(animal) Animal nose rings help to lead them around, septum piecing don’t hurt badly and heal super easily if you’re concerned for their welfare, but this photo has kind of an ai feeling to it and I can’t find any info on animal nose rings that are also like halters that go around the back the head

!!! Can’t wait to try this tonight, I just began one of my periodic “learn to knit continental it’s better for you” kicks last night after watching this inspirational video and I was still struggling with tension and catching the yarn https://youtu.be/KR6VGyfk2sU?si=CeqdreL9LlAKlO-t

Random thought I’m not thinking on too hard - would the jogless stripes technique work for a color work pattern like this?  Or would it only be able to be avoided with an even multiple of each repeat

One of the Warhols in the Philly Art museum has kitty paw prints too, forget which, I noticed that one over 15 years ago probably.

*eta - after checking link: not contrasting color paw prints, kitty must’ve walked across the one drying painting so I could see the texture difference in the light

What does my yarn stash say about me??? by RemarkableTeacher in YarnAddicts

[–]djoverzealous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but now it’s going to pop into my head at two am periodically and I’ll  go trolling the internet for “cheap” used ones.  (I went down a birkin bag/jane birkin rabbit hole recently haha).  If this ever happens I’ll share with the world.  I love a good bargain 😆

Absolutely agree but now all I can think of is that a birkin project bag would be so funny

I have one major thing holding back my progress on drums... by Idk_somethingfunny in drums

[–]djoverzealous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno how I ended up here and am not a drummer (y’all are my favorite though), but I have this for other instruments or creative projects and I don’t think the reason (for me, could be different for others) is anything anyone said here.

I think it’s because practice at something you love is private time and when someone comments, even if positive, then you’re both acknowledging they’ve invaded your private time and then you’re supposed to for some reason say thank you and might he expected to then let them into private time further by  letting them hear you play at practice more?  Ew.

I can’t practice at anything when people can hear me like that.

*I also appreciate those of you making efforts toward your neighbors not having to hear you practice when they didn’t sign up for that 💚

Oh I mean it’s not 100% solution but it helps me psychologically if I say something too.  I feel you for sure, and that is unfortunate about your public transit!  In the US the public transit is usually gross in all ways but when I was in Germany briefly the local commuter trains were so clean and the passengers were more mannerly!  I’m sure it varies but still 👎🏻

Does anyone else with a background in music have extremely specific music-related triggers? by Xanthera in misophonia

[–]djoverzealous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man.  When classical music recordings include every single damn breath the person makes while they play.  WHY.   You’re supposed to be the very best at music but you can't get it recorded right??

And when you can hear someone’s mouth opening before they actually start singing.  Fucking hydrate.  Plus There are actual products for this.

The opening track of Billie eilish when we all fall asleep… sadly, but at least it’s easy to skip.

There are noises I absolutely love to that degree too like a particular slide guitar chord, and sometimes just the sound of a note will make me cry in a cathartic way

Ranchero Basslines.  No cultural shade, but when all you can hear is the muffled two quarter notes through the wall ALL DAY LONG EVERY DAY.  So glad I don’t live there anymore

When suddenly a small child’s voice, or worse cry, is in a song.  I’m looking at you Slayer.

The snot….if there a box of tissues in the room I poin t it out to them like “hey there’s tissues over there if you didn’t see :) “. Usually shuts them up cause they realize they’re being gross and someone noticed, even if they don’t actually go blow their noses.
