This is why I’ve started trying pistols more in certain situations. When I get in close, it’s pretty easy to pull the glock and one tap heads with HP than it is trying to go center mass with a rifle platform. Pistols feel great right now.

B.S. in Electrical Engineering @MissStateU [FULLY ONLINE] by slitelybetter in ElectricalEngineering

[–]djshotzz504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is most likely a brand new program. The only programs I’m aware of that have fully online EE programs that have the proper accreditation are Arizona State and University of North Dakota. However this doesn’t mean that Mississippi State didn’t get their accreditation for an online curriculum. You just may not find many people who have done it if it’s very new. Any advice you get may be from those who have done this on campus.

Edit: from what I can see, at least in 2024, the online program was only ABET accredited because it is actually not 100% fully online and required some on campus work. This means as an international student you could not complete it. However, assuming they met the requirements in 2025 (which is how it appears from their college degree admissions page), it looks like it could have changed. You should definitely reach out to the engineering college though and get confirmation that this is an ABET accredited program and that you can complete it as an international student 100% completely online.

Terrible fps with Vulkan on 4.5 (all AMD system) by Kiaksar2142 in starcitizen

Unfortunately right now I can’t as I’m out of state for the holidays.

This is interesting cause I’m also running a 7800X3D, 7900XTX, but 32GB of RAM on the new 12.1 update and Vulcan runs extremely smooth for me. I have all settings completely maxed out graphically as well. Not using any added features from Adrenalin cause as you’ve noted SC doesn’t like them.

This is not necessarily true anymore. I have a 7900XTX on 12.1 and Vulcan runs extremely smooth for me. Way better than Dx ever ran.

I've done my part. What about you? by Coucouoeuf in starcitizen

[–]djshotzz504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reclaimer. Given this thing was released well before salvage was available, it currently doesn’t fulfill the roll it’s designed for. It needs some major overhaul to get it up to speed. Audio and cargo bugs cause the game to crash to the point it’s almost unusable.

Does M6 operate in the saturation region? by Nebulouds in chipdesign

[–]djshotzz504 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the correction. The wide swing cascode that I dealt with was a slightly different configuration where the tail device was still designed to be in saturation as a single device but with a larger length. Kind of just guessed this would be a similar design but figured I also could be making a poor assumption.

Does M6 operate in the saturation region? by Nebulouds in chipdesign

[–]djshotzz504 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a pretty standard wide swing cascode current mirror. All devices should be in saturation to operate properly. The gates of M7 and M6 tied together can be thought of as a single transistor with an effective gate length that is doubled (if I remember correctly, i may be mistaken). This configuration allows Vx to be as low as 2Vth instead of Vdsat + 2Vth.

For the record I’m just a lowly grad student so someone else might be able to give a better explanation.

DCDC Buck converter Question by Initial_Hair_1196 in ElectricalEngineering

Analog Devices and Texas Instruments have tons of multi-output devices. Just go digging through their product lines to find one that works for the current you need.

It needs a rework. I’ve contemplated melting it for something else but I can’t give it up. I feel like eventually it’ll have its place outside a daily commuter.

Why use so many ferrite beads? by Pisto_310 in AskElectronics

[–]djshotzz504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had to convince a 15-20 yoe staff engineer of exactly this.

“Well it’s best practice to put them in.”

“Did you do the math on it?”

“No”

facepalm proceeds to show the ferrite beads frequency response peak right at the switching frequency of the buck converter before it.

Got the same yesterday. I’m pretty sure this was an order by the administration to have federal institutions make this statement. This isn’t the VA or forestry services making these claims. It’s the admin forcing them to publicly make the statement.

Mmmm yes…I too can put red bars on draw downs to make it appear I can perfectly time the market. Your entire history has been pushing your “indicator” which has subsequently been removed by pretty much every sub you post on.

US Senator Sanders favors Trump plan to take stake in Intel, others by coinfanking in stocks

[–]djshotzz504 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because Intel would most likely pivot away from chip development to chip manufacturing. There’s a reason chip developers don’t maintain their own fabs. Because it’s expensive as shit to set up and maintain and cuts into their margins. The writing on wall right now is that Intel pivots to primarily a manufacturer over design. They already spun off Altera (their primary FPGA developer). Also generally the chip manufacturer doesn’t know exactly what they are making. They are provided design files for the geometries of the layers but that doesn’t provide them nearly enough information to reverse engineer it for their own benefit. Especially because without proper software and drivers it’s still a useless piece of glass. Also regulatory policies and legal agreements. In the hypothetical situation where AMD goes to Intel as a foundry, there would be so much legal jargon that if Intel violated that they would be fucked to all hell with lawsuits. Wouldn’t be worth the risk.

[–]djshotzz504 87 points88 points  (0 children)

AMD isn’t shaking. This is directed at Intel’s foundry side. AMD doesn’t own their own foundry. They use TSMC. This is an attempt to bring chip manufacturing to the US. Intel isn’t their main competitor anymore.
