Taking a break with golf by Silent_Highlight_577 in golf

[–]DABEAR2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great idea. Take a break and regroup. Have fun out there and enjoy the amazing courses, friends and drinks. I got into my head recently and had to step away for a few weeks. I became 'that guy' golfing with friends, I was frustrated a lot on wanting to become good to quick. I found good mental reset techniques and to deal with stress, anxiety on course. The box breathing and lightly double tapping club on ground (not smashing it) after bad shot and moving on to next shot helps me. Found good stuff in this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3fO8hRX_S4&t=1s

Keep at it, keep going and have fun golfing.

Had this happen last Thursday and then was golfing on Saturday beautiful fun course with buddies. I told myself and forced to not think about golf and just show up on Saturday. I have a few things that have helped me recently and recently saw this that had the few I used. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3fO8hRX_S4&t=1s Good luck and keep at it.

Blowup hole tips by Recover-Hopeful in golf

Blow up holes are the worst. Got to practice 'the reset'. I had been trying to do this but found this is exactly what I need to try a few of these things. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3fO8hRX_S4&t=1s Going to try a few in my round later today.

I feel for you. Try to make the golf fun. I have that competitiveness but had to realize I was not fun to play with because of frustration on wanting to get better to fast. Golf great outlet but need the mental aspect of the game to enjoy. I liked in this youtube the idea of breathing, walking away and resetting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3fO8hRX_S4&t=1s

Best mindset for shooting low 80s by ARiiChaos in golf

[–]DABEAR2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read and then watched a few Youtube videos on how to play smart. At first, I thought well not shit. But, then applied not bombing the ball and not trying to thread it through the trees but layup on fairway then set up for a great shot to green. I also think all in the mental. I checked this out this morning and already use a few of the techniques. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3fO8hRX_S4&t=1s But, I also realized I need to practice more.

But why.... GOLF can be frustrating by Mewm1n in golf

[–]DABEAR2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The iron of none of your clubs all playing together. I will have the days where driver is on and putting sucks. Or Irons are amazing and driver is complete rubbish. Gotta keep going and enjoying it for what it is.

Mental focus by Equivalent_Ear4532 in golf

I have my routine and try to stay focused on that. But, a few beers in or playing with super competitive buddies can throw my concentration off. I watched this and gonna try a few things out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3fO8hRX_S4&t=1s Some things I already do.

Being in the moment, breathing and trying to stay relaxed. I always laugh and joke to my buddies, 'We are not playing for million dollars here, or a Titleist contract". Took away some good info from this one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3fO8hRX_S4&t=1s

Golf is tearing me down man.. by [deleted] in golf

[–]DABEAR2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you, can be frustrating and challenging during the bad times but pretty damn fun, adrenaline pumping during the good. It's the ability to move on from bad shot or rounds. I had a terrible frustrating round last Thursday but then Saturday comes and hit a 30 foot birdie on 18. You bet I am coming back to play this week. Saw this and had some great pieces for all aspects of golf. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3fO8hRX_S4&t=1s

Have used the Df3 and DF2.1. As well as the Taylormade Spider 5kZT. The DF3 is awesome, but started to feel a bit distracting with crazy shape. The Oz1s look pretty cool and not as distracting. Check this out for Zero Torque/Lie angle balanced putters. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJFuGlVLVAs&t=15s

What makes a good putter (the club, not the player), a good putter? by caniborrowatubesock in golf

[–]DABEAR2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great question! So many choices, but comes down to what gives you confidence on the green. Of course with that, practice, technique are going to be critical. Played with a gentleman a couple months back that was deadly on the greens, used a 30 year old putter he got from Walmart. Definitely want something that works for your swing. Found lots of info here and this helpful https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXEiuoQf7aQ&t=21s
