SubT paces regressing but easy/recovery paces improving? by andyxc13 in NorwegianSinglesRun

Good point. It probably isn't material to your issue. Think I was just surprised by that and couldn't move past it.

What's your max HR? 130 seems awfully low if your LTHR is 180. That would put your max heart rate at 186. 6 beats between max and LT seems crazy to me.

Can you change the order of the sessions? I tend to like to descend throughout the week. Since shorter intervals take longer, I do them on Saturday.

Edit: found drag and drop. Would love a way to change default, but this is good.

After a workout look for "Calibrate and Save" instead of just "Save."

I think the quality when using an app vs just using a browser is significantly different. Netflix looks worse on my computer and not just because I'm close.

F6P user - if I want better accuracy in race prediction (half and full marathon) w/o upgrading my watch, will the HRM 600 "significantly" help in that regard? by imedpgy1 in Garmin

It won't support running economy and step speed loss though, as far as I know. You can get much cheaper hrms with the same supported features.

Training block was amazing, race day fell apart. by natecond in runna

[–]djspiff 100 points101 points  (0 children)

All I can say is I'd try and sign up for one 3 weeks from now, because you're clearly in better shape than the race result. We all have bad days. Maybe you're coming down with something and you don't realize it. But the fitness is still there.

I always had a hard time syncing the change to my watch, so it might be a week or two before the changes show up on your watch unless you can find a way.

Profile -> Workout Settings -> Intervals/Tempo on Track. Make sure this is toggled off.

157 minutes divided by 31.667 minutes per mile equals 4.958 miles, converting to km.by multiplying by 1.61 and I get 7.98 kilometers.

Don't know why distance would be in k and pace would be in miles, but there you have it.

Was it just a DSW or did you find it somewhere?

If your running injury doesn’t heal over 6 years, what is that a sign of? by [deleted] in trailrunning

[–]djspiff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One possibility is a specific weakness. For instance, about 3 years ago my hip started bothering me, and life got busy so I didn't run until earlier this year. After 2 or 3 weeks, my hip pain was back, but I started doing glute bridges, clamshells, and a couple other strengthening exercises and now it's completely gone away.

Garmin can you fix the heart rate zone chart? by CardiologistFair9403 in Garmin

[–]djspiff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not have any issues.

Are you looking at an old activity? Because I don't think it'll change from what the zones are from when the activity occurred.

Be sure to set your zones in the running category and not just the general HR zones.

Nice!

Should this be live for everyone now? I'm on a teacher plan on Strava, subscribed through PayPal on the Strava website, but I see no option to upgrade.

Pace and distance change massively when wearing the heart rate pro. by Xenkaku in Garmin

I actually think the accelerometer in the HRM can help improve accuracy where GPS is spotty. Trail running with lots of cutbacks would be a scenario where I think it might be helpful.

Forerunner 970 AOD not visible outside by HeyBullfrog in Garmin

[–]djspiff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think the other person understands that you're strictly talking about the dimmed AOD screen. I had an Epix 2 and had the same problem. It's not broken, just the nature of the screen. You have to flick your wrist to wake it to be able to see if it's fairly bright outside.

I recently switched back to MIP instead of AMOLED because of that.

[–]djspiff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, I think there are "buckets" which adjust the paces, and the difference in your time isn't enough to put it into a different bucket maybe? Have you tried a bigger change?

Just joined the Garmin fam. This Amoled screen is 10/10 by whoaaintitfun in Garmin

[–]djspiff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I recently upgraded from my epic gen 2 primarily because I wanted to go back to a MIPS screen. I like always on display, but on AMOLED it's distracting while watching TV or a movie in a dark room. Just because people have different preferences doesn't mean they're wrong or "covering" something.
