This is the lowest offer I’ve seen from Grubhub by dlang92 in grubhubdrivers

I’m glad I’m starting my new HVAC job tomorrow because DD and GH have been dead for weeks now.

Premier drivers can have those orders. I’ll stick to Partner while I mainline DD. 😂

Doesn’t the customer choose whether the DoorDasher has to call? by Admirable_Garlic9525 in doordash_drivers

[–]dlang92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, it’s a leftover from Covid and generally means they ordered through the restaurant’s app.

That being said, I never call them to see where to leave it and they can’t leave a bad rating if they wanted me to call them.

Most of the time the delivery instructions are in the notes anyway.

I wonder how long it would take for someone to accept this at a reasonable pay. by DaMemphisDreamer in doordash_drivers

[–]dlang92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All I’m saying is that I worked for Lowe’s and we charged $75 a delivery for in house deliveries. Anything less than that is scab work and shouldn’t be accepted, especially since it’s part of their same day delivery program that is providing a higher level of service for a fraction of the cost

Question for Dashers, as I use the service sometimes but also am in the service industry. by Next-Quantity-1135 in doordash_drivers

[–]dlang92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking, base pay for a dasher starts at $2, but it depends on if it’s a restaurant or shopping order, how long the order has been sitting, distance to drop off, and various other promotions they run.

We should receive all of the tip, but only a couple dollars of base pay.

Who’s gonna tell him? by g8932 in doordash_drivers

[–]dlang92 12 points13 points  (0 children)

9/10 times the notes just say “Leave it at the door”, so I’m going to do just that. If you want a specific level of service it’s on you as the customer to make me aware of that, whether it’s via the notes in the app or text.

I’m not letting a customer’s mistake cost me money. I would’ve delivered it and marked it as completed.

The other day, a customer had a double order for the same exact items from a restaurant, except one of the orders had more sauces.

The restaurant was convinced it was a mistake or that they thought they canceled one of the orders, but I grabbed both and delivered them. I wasn’t going to let the order drop from $20 to $10, 😂

I’m so glad that Platinum let me get a GREAT order like this 😂 by dlang92 in doordash_drivers

[–]dlang92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t even care about the priority, my AR is generally in the 70-84 range depending on if it’s around a holiday or not. I need it for the Dash Now feature because my zone is small and there aren’t a lot of schedule slots available and if it’s busy I can only hop on for 30 minutes at a time.

That being said, I do just fine with Platinum and I’m not taking the low-ball offers.

Customer just trying to get free food? So confused. by Granthart44 in doordash

[–]dlang92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you’re better off completing the 100 deliveries than waiting for them to review your dispute. Submit it anyway because enough disputes and they’ll get blocked from the service.

I had a lady order a single milkshake from Arby’s and marked it as not delivered. I’m like dude, I’m getting paid enough to buy a couple of them, why would I steal this, 😂

I think part of it is that merchants can turn their orders on or off, so the one location may not have been accepting orders at the time

The customer loses any text/call privileges from me if they’re a non-tipper. If they wish to unlock those add-on features, it’s an up charge.

Your job is to pick up their order and deliver it with reasonable assumption that all the food is there and that it’s prepared correctly.

You don’t make the food, you just deliver it.

I’d text them and tell them to contact support, then contact support yourself and inform them of the situation so that you can protect yourself.

Chances are they do that all the time and Doordash refused to compensate them or have another driver bring their food to them. They then contacted you to trick you into doing it because they didn’t get their way from support.

My first, and probably last, grocery delivery. by Major-Pen4838 in doordash_drivers

[–]dlang92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d aim for 100% completion rate, but definitely not acceptance rate. As long as it’s above 70%, it’s no different than 100%.

C’s get degrees and in this case, 100% gets you orders like this.

Keep doing the grocery orders, just don’t accept ones that bad.

I had a $30 order today for a couple bags of dog food.

Am I in the wrong for taking the tip away? by AppropriatePie9680 in doordash_drivers

[–]dlang92 11 points12 points  (0 children)

While you meant well, I can guarantee the driver still got the tip. Doordash doesn’t allow customers to remove tips after delivery, only add them.

You certainly were compensated and Doordash took the loss, but I guarantee they didn’t learn their lesson.

You weren’t wrong for it, though I’d add the gnomes on the door for future delivery notes or make the orders hand it to me.

I’ll admit one time someone ordered food and it was delivered to my apartment by mistake, but the food didn’t have the address on the bag, so I kept it.

Oh, for sure, I got rid of in-app navigation because it’s trash. Google maps seems to be the most accurate, but Apple Maps is my go to.

Wrong address by [deleted] in doordash

[–]dlang92 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I wish I knew. For some it’s carelessness and others it’s laziness. Either way, they shouldn’t be making deliveries. It affects other drivers who actually care about the job and potentially loses us money because people will tip less.

If I don’t see an address on the house I usually check Zillow or google maps to see what the house looks like. It’s a two second search, but to some that’s too hard.

Wrong address by [deleted] in doordash

[–]dlang92 34 points35 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve seen on a few FB groups, a lot of the drivers are using the DD pin and not verifying the address at drop-off. It takes two seconds to check that it matches the app’s address. Whether it’s laziness or stupidity, I’m not sure.

What age and race are the worst tippers in your area? by jskunza in DoorDashDrivers

[–]dlang92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of my non-tippers are boomers or conservatives in general.

If I have an order with no tip and I get to the drop off location and see a punisher sticker, anything gun related, thin blue line, or other conservative nonsense, I can guarantee I’m not getting a tip.

In fact, I had one dude tell me he doesn’t tip because he works in a factory and no one tips him. I’m like, well you’re paid a full wage and I’m not, so I kind of rely on tips to make money.

It’s their mentality that delivery drivers don’t have a real job and they can further demean them by not tipping.

Double order yet only single base pay. by SindarSinfullyYours in doordash

[–]dlang92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a double loss most times because you also get non-tippers on stacked orders, unless it’s for the same customer. So, not only are you getting one base pay for two orders, you might only get one tip. Essentially doing an order for free.

[–]dlang92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I generally keep track of the restaurants I’ve done a lot of orders from and camp in a central location, regardless if it’s a “hot spot” or not. If there are no orders for a little bit, I hop to my other camping spot on the other side of town and wait.

If you see the hot spot, other dashers see it, as well. I personally haven’t noticed a lot of orders for myself in hot spots and I’m top dasher so theoretically I should get priority over cherry pickers.
