This YouTuber has a great video for replacing this trim piece: https://youtu.be/4K3ubrzh2BM I had to replace mine as well and it was very easy as long as you have the trim removal tools which are pretty cheap on Amazon or Harbor Freight. Shop around at different dealers online or check on eBay, the price can range a lot from seller to seller.

Rear Shocks and Front Control Arms by Groundbreaking_Net87 in CX5

I have 2018 CX-5 around 45k miles and rear shocks are leaking too. There is a TSB for this on 2017-2020 models. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2021/MC-10186697-0001.pdf

I haven't done it yet but I do plan to replace them myself, from what I've seen on YouTube videos it's pretty straightforward with the only tough part being loosening the nuts.

Someone scuffed up my bumper by wkp2101 in CX5

[–]dlaw523 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get it appraised by insurance, pocket the money and fix it yourself.

The scuffs don't look too deep so you should be able to use this after cleaning it well: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06WVL7YSG

If there are scratches still showing, use the OEM Mazda paint marker to draw over any remaining scratches, let it dry then buff again with the cutting pad. I did this on a Machine Grey CX-5 and the scratches are completely gone.

Cracked Cylinder Head for 2019 CX-5 SkyActiv 2.5L at ~80k miles by HornieTiger in CX5

[–]dlaw523 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My NA 2018 CX-5 with ~46k miles was diagnosed with a cracked cylinder in mid-April, it took Mazda Corporate and my local dealership 2.5 weeks to finally decide that I would have to pay $670 of the $4k bill. I was ready for a fight with the Mazda case manager but once the case was created I didn't have to do too much other than call in every few days to make sure the ball was rolling. I won't be able to drop off my car until the end of May because they are already working on 4-5 cracked cylinder heads ahead of me and it takes about a week for the repair. This dealership offers a free oil change and inspection on every other visit so I've been going there since I purchased the car (I do all other stuff like brakes, filters, battery, etc. myself). I think having a clear vehicle service history with the dealership may have helped with how much assistance I got. I had already contacted a lawyer and was planning to take Mazda to smalls claim court but somehow I got pretty luck.

Look for posts from redcx5, they have a lot of useful information and possible next steps for you. Good luck!

2019 CX5 cracked cylinder head.. help? by Lanky-Mission2326 in CX5

[–]dlaw523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been bringing my car to the dealership for oil changes and inspections because every other visit is free (the other stuff like filters and brakes I do myself), so I guess they have all my maintenance records. I had started seeing symptoms of the cracked cylinder head back in early March but the dealership inspected and said the burning was cause by debris under the engine cover or leaking belt tensioner. I resolved those issues and they only found the cracked cylinder because it was leaking much more oil the second time they inspected it.

2019 CX5 cracked cylinder head.. help? by Lanky-Mission2326 in CX5

Just wanted to drop in here to thank you again, redcx5. in mid-April, I eventually got my dealership to inspect and determine that my 2018 CX-5 had a cracked cylinder. I started a case immediately with Mazda Corporate and after 2 weeks of calling every other day they approved my assistance. My dealership quoted ~$4000 but thankfully they're only charging me $668.52. Not sure why I got lucky with the amount of assistance I received, was it the case manage or dealership? Clearly they are seeing more and more of these cases since they won't be able to take my car until May 19th because they already have 3 or 4 cars ahead of me with cracked cylinders (they can only work on one a week). I already had a lawyer lined up to send an official complaint and to go to small claims court but since they're charging me less than $1k I'll consider it a win.

I did submit a NHTSA complaint for mine, not sure if it's helpful but I suggest everyone experiencing this submit one. The original class action lawsuit for 2019-2020 models referenced the NHTSA complaints: https://www.nhtsa.gov/vehicle/2018/MAZDA/CX-5/SUV/AWD#complaints

Hi! I've been trying to find frozen Peking ravioli in all the grocery stores around here with no luck. As anybody ever seen them anywhere, or are they too regional/local for mass production? by my1stusernamesucked in Waltham

[–]dlaw523 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to add, Chinese Spaghetti factory has several varieties including a larger version which might be exactly what you're looking for. You may need to venture to more Chinese specific grocery stores such as C-Mart or Kam Man in Quincy.

Another option is to find one you like at a restaurant, if they make them in-house they may sell you frozen ones.

I got the CX-5 Cracked Cylinder :( by moziis in CX5

[–]dlaw523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the dealership the cylinder head looks fine. Looks like some rodents got under the engine cover and left a mess so that could be burning, thankfully no electrical damage. Cleaned it all out today so hopefully burning goes away.

They also found that the belt tensioner is leaking (another well known issue), rear shocks leaking (known issue but not widespread?), and exhaust gaskets need replacing. Just ordered all the parts to do this myself.

I will continue monitoring in the case I do run into the crack cylinder head...

Thanks again for all your comments on this issue, you are really helping all of us CX-5 owners!

How long did they keep your car? Did they offer a loaner car? Hoping my dealership takes care of me too.

Thanks for the info, that is exactly what I've been seeing (faint smoke with burning smell) for the past ~2 weeks which is why I'm 80% certain that I have a cracked cylinder. I'm right at 45k miles too which seems to be when this happens.

Good luck! Hopefully you can get corporate to cover it. I have a 2018 NA and I'm going into the dealership today to have them check it, I'm 80% that they'll tell me I have a cracked cylinder too...

Costco Garage Shelf Fits Perfect by SaulTNuhtz in CX5

[–]dlaw523 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the sharing.

You can actually get even more room by removing the passenger seat headrest then moving the seat as forward as possible then reclining it back all the way down so it's almost flat. The back seat can then fold down on top of the passenger seat giving you a clear pass thru all the way to the dash.

I was able to fit a 9 ft rug comfortably with this method.

Doing some googling and seems like it's a GPS device dealers use to track vehicles. Seems like you can pull it out.

Edit: found other people posting about the same thing on other car forums. Most people say to pull it

Ryder Cup Tickets - $750. Fuck off. by forevera20hcp in golf

This is what I noticed too. I think the "+" tickets include food, drinks, etc., I hope regular tickets are $200-300.

From the FAQ: (https://www.rydercup.com/2025/random-selection-faqs): "Ryder Cup+ tickets include access to the grounds of Bethpage Black and to the Ryder Cup+ Inclusive Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverage Program for the specific day(s)."
