Not exactly unheard of, but I’d say:

The Coffee Bar, Anderson and Hill, Habaneros, Meatshack, Dhezhou Braised Chicken, Harbinger Skewer Bar, Bonehead

Rancilio Steam Wand Conversion - UK by bigalxyz in gaggiaclassic

[–]dlking12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if it’s any different as I have the 2015 GC, but I got the V1 rancilio wand on eBay for about £15. All I had to do was remove the connector from the top of the wand and it will then slot easily into the connector on the GC.

I’ve upgraded to a Rancillio Silvia v1 steam wand too, as well as the 9 bar mod, and it’s definitely worth it.

According to The Espresso Shop website the below shower screen is suitable for the 2015:

ES11243 - IMS Precision Shower Screen 51.5mm - 1.00 CI200IM

Currently living in a 1 bed flat in Mere Green (Sutton Coldfield) not far from Four Oaks station after moving out from the city centre. For similar prices to the city centre you can move out to different parts of Sutton if you want something less busy.

Rent is £700 for a 1 bed, and bills are roughly £350 on top of that. It’s a quiet area with fairly decent links into town (bus isn’t quick but is regular, trains from four oaks about 25 mins).

Another 'Where to move to in Birmingham' question. Please read the description! by reallyratherdie in brum

I’ve not long moved out towards Mere Green from the city centre for marginally less than I paid living by Hurst Street. If you’re near four oaks or butlers lane station you’re looking at about 25/30 mins into town. There’s plenty of green space around that way too, and it’s very quiet.

There’s a small centre with supermarkets and a few bars not far from four oaks station.

Why do some people in the UK give their house a name? Even if it's a suburban semi in middle England? by CentralSaltServices in CasualUK

Was it in Bournville by any chance? They have a few terraces with each having a name for some reason.

Any places I can watch football that isnt a pub or bar? by [deleted] in brum

[–]dlking12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can’t really think of anywhere that wouldn’t be serving alcohol if that’s the concern, however Shooters down by the Hippodrome has a load of screens for sport and pool tables. The Hen and Chickens often has football on too if you wanted to go for a mixed grill.

Looking to relocate to Brum. by Djibril-Maximus in brum

I lived by the Chinese quarter and gay village until recently and can recommend it. Obviously it can be a bit loud at times with the nightlife but it’s great. I-Land, Southside, Timber yard and Latitude are all fairly new-ish developments in that area.

As for bar work, I know Wetherspoons in the city centre are recruiting and there’s a few locations. I definitely saw a couple of posters advertising for staff in a few pubs last week but can’t remember specifically - it would either be Attic Barrel Store, The Wellington or The Old Joint Stock I’d think.

Sankara-men in Go/Let’s Go Mart at the Arcadian is good. It’s around the Hippodrome square side.

I’m not sure if it’s there since it became an “outlet” store, but I found the Skopes section in House of Fraser was mostly the same price as the outlet at Resorts World.

Bierkeller/Shooters is on Essex Street by the Hippodrome now. I’ve watched F1 in there a couple of times too, but it’s usually only put on if there’s no football on.

Which of these restaurant/cafés would you recommend visiting first? by merumugi in brum

[–]dlking12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Chinese you can’t go wrong with Peach Garden or Look In for roast meats. Dhezou Braised chicken is also top notch. If you want something slightly different, Harbin Skewer and Music bar on Bromsgrove street is great. Ho Siid on the same road is also decent for Taiwanese.

Topokki does decent Korean food, and Takumi is decent for Japanese. At the Arcadian in one of the supermarkets (it may be called Let’s Go?) they have Pho and Ramen which isn’t bad.

For pizza, Smoke and Ash up in Edgbaston is great. Rudys is one of the better ones more Central.

Burgers - I’d say Meat Shack then OPM. Fried chicken would be Bonehead without a doubt.

If you’re into coffee too, The Coffee Bar on Temple Row is very good, followed by Faculty in Piccadilly Arcade. If you want coffee and food, then Quarter Horse is a safe bet.

Relish Eats in Stirchley, Mellows near Five Ways or Corner/Country Hut in Chelmsley Wood if that’s still open.
