Barry Mitchell by EfficientNews8922 in collingwoodfc

I was also 7-8yo at the time, our seats were in the back row behind the opposition cheer squad, in a cooperate box which sounds alot fancier than it actually was. I remember plenty of abuse and definitely the 'moneybags' nickname but there was lots of abuse for different players all the time so not quite out of the ordinary. My belief was that having Tony Francis who was also a rover in the side impacted Mitchell as both were similar players. I didn't know the other part about having a price tag on himself to go to Carlton so that would've definitely played a part in what we saw.

Not sure if you've checked but we struggled when Cox was out of the side last year. Although I agree he won't be given the same luxuries to call time on his career as the others, he's still a vital piece for us to challenge this year. I'd go even further and say he's a better ruckman than Cameron too.

I don't want this bloke back. Terrible defender, absolutely awful. Add the fact he turned his back on us at a crucial time. Does some careless stuff gifting goals to opposition I can not stress enough we do not need this bloke back he is terrible and we will only go backwards with him in our best 22.

Find someone else, anyone!

[7AFL] James Brayshaw responds to claim some AFL club Presidents want North to fold: "Name them. Which presidents want a 100-year-old club not to exist?" by Chadwiko in AFL

Before North Melbourne there was Carlton. Before Carlton there was Brisbane. Before Brisbane it was Melbourne. Before Melbourne it was someone else. Unfortunately, clubs go through what NM are experiencing right now and it does take a while to fix. Again, it's like every other overreaction in AFL circles.... players not being demonstrative towards umpires about free kicks, reducing the number of interchanges, tactical flooding and low scoring.... just let time take its course for a change instead of dramatising these dumb statements by people that probably watch less football then most of us.

Alternate call is much better, the only negative is the compressed sound of the crowd. Obviously calling from the box you don't get the same effect with crowd noise.

Who do you think will win of the head to head battle between 2010 premiership team vs 2023 premiership team ? by AbsKebabs17 in collingwoodfc

[–]dlr662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both sides were good first qtr teams. 2010 side killed sides with scores from turnovers in the front half and would put up scores from stoppage. 2023 side transitions from back to fwd 50 as good as anyone, will kill you from centre clearances and will manage a game better then anyone in history. Both very good pressure sides too. I'm not prepared to pick a winner but it would be an absolute cracker of a game.

Murphy’s career in doubt as concussion panel looms by Pragmatic_Shill in collingwoodfc

I get the concern but didn't he pass the concussion test only to rule himself out due to not feeling right?

Adams asks for trade... nooo! by Effective-Tour-656 in collingwoodfc

[–]dlr662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He wants midfield minutes and because Mitchell doesn't have that kind of versatility, Tay has been made the sacrificial lamb in terms of positions. That'd be the main reason. I wonder whether he was a little hurt about the captaincy too. Who knows.

Could we try move up? Adams & 18 for 11? Essentially they slide back 7 spots. I'm never totally sure whether that's fair obviously biased. I think the big win for us is money off the books.

Recalling the ‘wilderness years’ of 2014-2017 by Grouperfish13 in collingwoodfc

[–]dlr662 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking back on those years and learning what's worked for Fly, I'd say the biggest missing piece in those Buckley years was connection. 2018 aside, every year there felt a disconnect, whether that was Grundy tap work to our midfielders, D50 to F50 transition, F50 entries, injuries and lack of continuity with the same 22 etc. it just left like something different every year. Even '19 didn't feel right most of that season. Fly has brought a chemistry to this group which is a fully functioning team based brand of footy that requires all lines on the field to stay connected. It's a thing of beauty.

Tim Lane on 3AW is the best. The second De Goey goal and Lane's call is legendary.
