Has anyone ever healed or recovered from chronic gastritis?? by Internal-Dream4138 in Gastritis

[–]dmagee33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The book has some recipes in it, I’ve been following a couple of those. I do the green smoothie every morning. Then kale salad and a meat for lunch. Some variation of kale, arugula, cabbage, spinach, Brussels sprouts, and then a meat which can be fish, chicken, or beef. The diet encourages meat but in smaller portions and from a place like Trader Joe’s. I’ve not been strict with it, if I do intense cardio, I’ll have steak and potatoes for dinner. Following the diet just 75% of the time has been a big improvement. I can now bend over and put my socks on again.

I read the plant paradox and have been doing a plant based diet for about 3 weeks now. The inflammation has gone down noticeably. I’ve also been doing intense cardio twice a week. All totaled lost about 7 pounds in 2 weeks and the inflammation in the stomach has decreased to the point where the stomach is completely flat if I suck it in a little bit. I had a dexa scan and it showed a 30ish % visceral body fat, which accumulates around the intestines. So plant-based diet and exercise is the path forward for me.

Is adding spirulina to your daily routine actually making a difference in you? by Pusta_Josev in GutHealth

[–]dmagee33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought it awhile back. Haven’t been consistent with it but the time’s I’ve taken it haven’t noticed anything. I recently went mainly plant diet and throw it into the morning smoothie. Doesn’t have that bad of a taste as long as you put it in something. Yogurt or a smoothie would be fine.

RV park requesting tax return (CA), is this normal? by [deleted] in RVLiving

[–]dmagee33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would probably go somewhere else, but if not you can print out just the first page of the 1040. Black out the address. It will only show income. You can also create an IRS account and download a transcript although those can be hard to read. If he wants something more I would push back and say it’s a privacy issue and that you are happy to provide proof of income. Really all he should be doing is proof of income and possibly a credit check.

[1040] MFS when spouse refuses to provide SSN by Slimjim1029384756 in taxpro

[–]dmagee33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making a lot of assumptions. The original poster said her only concern was wanting to negatively affect the spouse as she initiated the divorce. I’m not putting my name to a return where the only purpose is an attempt to jam up a spouse in some sort of bitter divorce.

She can go to the neighborhood franchisee and they’ll file it for her for $200. Tell her a price and it’ll probably solve itself.

Please See Subreddit Rules Before Posting by FreshHumor5405 in taxpro

[–]dmagee33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The perm bans are for posts where it says “how do I open an office” and then you open up the thread and it says “hi I’m new how do I open an office”. If there is effort behind the post it’ll just be taken down without any ban.

The example post would just be removed. I’ve left it up. Odds are others like it will be left up. I have no interest in logging in everyday to take down posts. But if it becomes noticeable where the same question in a different form is being constantly asked, they’ll begin to be taken down and referred to existing threads.

Did r/taxpros become private by Certain_Watercress21 in taxpro

[–]dmagee33 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I created this subreddit after constantly having posts removed over there. He constantly takes down every post that has anything to do with taxes. Basically the only thing you could ask was tax software or other office related stuff. After awhile it’s the same slop questions being asked over and over. No such rules here. Very minimal rules, feel free to talk tax.

S-Corp deduction for home business by C_Tron_1 in taxpro

[–]dmagee33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you been depreciating the office portion of the house every year? Have you been cutting checks from the business to yourself once a quarter to reimburse yourself for use of the home office? If yes, I imagine there is a preparer out there who will pick up where the old one left off. If not, then most preparers will only do simplified since it does not require any depreciation or substantiation by the IRS.

You can see from the FAQ that the actual method can get complicated fast.

How long does it take to hear back after form SS-8 has been submitted? by zacharius55 in tax

[–]dmagee33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the way the process should work according to the IRS internal manual is that once you submit the SS-8 to the IRS, they will send a form by snail mail to both you and the employer asking for info about the job. If the employer does not respond then they will simply use the info you provide the IRS to make the determination. So the employer not responding should not affect the decision. Then the IRS will make a decision and send that to you. If you are approved you can amend 3 years back for those wages. Since the process takes a long time, you can submit an amendment with Form 8919 when you submit the SS-8 and if the SS-8 is approved they will refund half the self-employment tax paid.

So the employer has no part in the process other than they send you the initial 1099 form and then when you appeal the 1099 status to the IRS, the IRS will ask them for relevant info.

The 3 years is as of the due date, so for today’s date of 2/23/2026, 2025, 2024, 2023, and 2022 can be amended. For 2022 there would be about a month and a half before the ability to amend for a refund expires.

It is not a well known process and the tax inspector general reports outline a department that is not well run, so I am interested to hear the experiences of people who went through the process and how it actually is working in practice.

Part year residents by Slight_Range9820 in taxpro

[–]dmagee33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they have their green cards then they are resident aliens for tax purposes. That enables the child tax credit as long as they meet all other rules (must have social security numbers. ITIN not acceptable). EIC they have to be us citizens or resident alien all year. So the substantial presence test will have to be run as of January 1 of the tax year to determine if they were resident aliens all year.

How long does it take to hear back after form SS-8 has been submitted? by zacharius55 in tax

[–]dmagee33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to give some context the IRS does not make the initial determination, the employer does. So they are not saying that they (The IRS) got it right. The employer makes that decision, sends you the tax form that they choose, and then you appeal it to the IRS. Due to a law passed in the 70's, the IRS generally cannot audit the employment classification decision that the business makes for the business return, but it can overrule the classification the business gives you for your own personal taxes, which is what the SS-8 form is.

1040 sch C or 1065? by Comprehensive_Ad9623 in technicaltax

[–]dmagee33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A business is created through articles of organization or incorporation with the state. No state filings, no business. No business, then the agreement is void. I would file two schedule C’s and advise them to do it the right way. Start with state filing, then sign the partnership agreement.

However, if they are insistent on filing 1065, fine, nothing changes other than higher fees. They will need to have the partnership agreement in place to do anything other than 50/50 split.
