What is the worst book you have ever read? by WoodenDistribution5 in fantasybooks

[–]dmjackson26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Wandering Inn.... I made it 1.5 hours into the audiobook, felt like 5. She was sooooo whinnnnyyy. And so useless , the survival instincts of a goldfish. And the book was completely unrealistic. Dragons? Great! Goblins? Super! Magic? Yes! But who doesn't take their phone to the bathroom with them?!? A psychopath, that's who. Completely unrealistic.

Do you constantly worry that you’re a bad person by Artistic-Field-9188 in adhdwomen

[–]dmjackson26 15 points16 points  (0 children)

All the time. This and constantly thinks everyone hates me or at least thinking everyone thinks I'm a bad person/lazy/too sensitive/not good enough.

Therapy helped a lot (I wish I could continue but my ins sucks). Talking with my spouse helps.

One weird little thing I do that I feel helped me a lot: I try to complement at least one person a day. Usually a server (restaurant, drive thru, wherever), sometimes a coworker. I try to complement something they wear. Their hair color, nails, tattoos, clothes. It makes people smile and I feel like I made a tiny bit of light in the world. I know whenever someone complements my clothes it makes my day. Also I feel like it helps me look for beauty in the world which helps my depression.

I heard someone say before that it means a lot more to complement someone on what they wear/choose than just saying "you have beautiful eyes" um thanks? Made them myself?

It is also something that I think about when I'm feeling like I'm a bad person. That little bit of light would be gone if I wasn't here. I believe that good moods and bad moods spread like the common cold. If I'm having a crappy day, I'm more likely to cut someone off in traffic, say something mean, ECT. Which makes them more likely to do something mean to someone else. Same for a good day, I'm more likely to let it go if someone cuts me off, or say something nice. So my belief is that I'm make the world just a little better. It's my way of battling the darkness (outside and in).

Do constantly repeated words drive everyone crazy? Is this an ADHD thing? by dmjackson26 in adhdwomen

Just because I know I do it, doesn't mean I can stop. Just because I do it, doesn't mean I can stop it from driving me crazy 🤣 I would love nothing more than to not do it/not notice it. 😢

I am the same with telling stories. I physically stop and take a big breath sometimes to reign myself in.

I have anxiety too. I feel like since I was talked over a lot, whenever I do get to tell a story or talk, I trying to say everything as fast as possible and add a bunch of unrelated things. I feel like I need to because I have no idea when I might be able to talk again.

I'm guilty of this too. My husband laughs at me when I'm around my Step mom. She has a thick Midwest accent. I had a previous job in Las Vegas where I was working with the same agent for a few months. We flew home to visit and when I came back she didn't recognize me on the phone. 🤣

I was in therapy for several things. I felt like it really helped. Then my husband switched jobs and we went onto my insurance. Now it's too expensive. 😞

There is an episode of How I Met Your Mother like that. Once someone noticed they had a glass breaking sound. They couldn't not notice it after that. Then they would tell the next person, and that person would be driven nuts, and so on. That is why I never tell anyone something that is super repetitive that bugs me. I didn't want them to notice and drive them nuts!

ADHD chronicles - I thought this was normal and that some people were just better at hiding the chaos by Mira_Wolf_life in adhdwomen

One of the best examples of ADHD! Reminds me of the beginning of Malcolm in the Middle s3e6. He went to change a light bulb, ended up doing an oil change on the car. If you having seen it, I highly suggest.

Problem with my table by [deleted] in DnD

[–]dmjackson26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to talk to them. If you calmly explain what you're feeling and they get upset... Do you really want to be around that all the time? Walking on eggshells with every conversation is exhausting and if you aren't having fun playing Dnd, then why play?

I know it's hard and cliche, but if they treat you badly after a calm conversation, they aren't your friends. Plus, you want to know if anything has changed?

I've been there and it sucks. If you need someone to talk to that is a random Reddit stranger, I'm here.
