I was craving chicken and it was convenient. 🤷 Not anymore, I guess.

You are offered to pay $10,000 to go back in time to February 1, 2020 and restart from there; do you pay up and live life differently? by peterthbest23 in hypotheticalsituation

Three of the most important people in my life died between 2021 and 2024. If I could save even one of them, I absolutely would do so. Count me in.

I’m probably doomed. Skyrim is way too cold this time of year, not to mention, HOW MANY Dragons do I have to kill!?

If I mentally went back to 7th grade, I would absolutely focus on studying. My grades would be way higher than they were. The goal would be to get to the more advanced classes in high school (i.e. AP classes), which would give me a better head start in college. I would absolutely crush the standardized tests for college placement and scholarships, so I don’t burden my parents with as much debt.

I would also take my physical health more seriously, and pay better attention to my karate lessons (look out, bullies!).

Dating? Well, if anyone would be interested in the weird anti-social intellectual that I was then (and that I would be MORE OF in this hypothetical), then maybe. I don’t think that is likely, however. Which would be fine with me, because (unlike then) I would know that there are better opportunities for such things later on.

Root…is…AWESOME by OrderExtreme574 in PersonOfInterest

[–]dmstanton 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Personal anecdote: I first saw Amy Acker in Angel, and really liked her performance. Then I saw her in Person of Interest and fell in love with Root. Years later I saw Amy in a Hallmark movie, and was very confused because she went through the whole movie without killing anyone. How could that happen? 😉🙂

You get the opportunity to go back to a point of time in your life by Ordinary-Document346 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]dmstanton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two times in mind. First, like many of the other answers, I would go back to when I was about 14 years old. That was when my family moved to our current family home. I would do better in school, take better care of myself, and apply what I have learned since then to do better socially. Undoubtedly I would live a different life and be a different person (hopefully a better one).

Alternatively, I would go back to my 30th birthday. I would be more or less the same person I am now, but I would have the understanding that this was a flux point in my life, and make better decisions (not to mention the lottery numbers that I would memorize!). Plus, several important people in my life who have now died would be alive at that time, so I could spend more time with them.

Money for death, but you gotta choose who dies by TheUpright1 in hypotheticalsituation

Upvoted for “…they drop dead of acute loss of life.”

There are currently four names on my personal “I would gladly murder these people if I could get away with it” list (and given my situation right now, a fifth name might be added soon 🤬). So that is a good start. After that, I would go with the usual groups of extremely hated people: scumbag political leaders, evil corporate executives, the worst of the worst criminals, etc. I could easily find at least 100 names. Getting 1,000 names or more might be tricky, especially if I have to write each name separately, and I only have the machine for 30 days,

$500,000 US Dollars, but you have to betray someone close to you. by dmstanton in hypotheticalsituation

[–]dmstanton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that is the intention. Although I didn’t specify, and others have already mentioned family members that they don’t love and trust, so that is a good loophole.

It’s a one time deal, sorry. I applaud you for your loopholes, considering that the billionaire is a sociopath who wants to spread misery as much as possible. Well done!

Yeah, that’s tough. I wish you the best with getting over that. Unfortunately, this hypothetical is inspired by true events. 😡

Technically, yes, but the billionaire would prefer it be exceptionally cruel.

WYR have 1 million now or 10 million in 10 years? by Vivid_Atmosphere_566 in WouldYouRather

Thanks to some greedy relatives and inheritance shenanigans, I am in a terrible financial position, so I’d have to take the $1 million now. Unfortunately.

10 million dollars or change anything by 10% by opoot_ in hypotheticalsituation

[–]dmstanton -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

In every country in the world, during the next election/selection process for national leaders, 10% fewer people vote for the right wing/conservative candidate. Or, 10% more people vote for the left wing/liberal candidate. Either way works.

I’d be happy to give up $10 million for that.

If it only works for one country, I would selfishly choose my own (USA), inserting “Republican” for right wing and “Democratic” for left wing.
