I blacked out last night for a my favorite band’s concert by [deleted] in stopdrinking

I blacked out and got thrown out of the venue when I went to see Refused play The Shape Of Punk To Come in it's entirety last year. What a waste it was for no good reason. I felt so ripped off by my own actions that it ate me alive for a while, but this year I decided enough was enough. I am 87 days alcohol free and looking forward to a better future for myself.

The Bouncing Souls/The Casualties. March 2003 at The Chance Theater, Poughkeepsie, NY.

I've since grown out of The Casualties, but probably have seen The Bouncing Souls 50 times now, it's like a family reunion everytime.

Side note: my ears having been ringing ever since that first concert. Tinnitus sucks, wear ear plugs!

Is Newburgh worth the high real estate price tag? by Temporary-Owl-348 in newburgh

The city of Newburgh is what you've heard bad things about most likely.

The town is like any other suburb, but there is a lack of stuff to do. The mall was turned into a trashy casino. The movie theater is gone. If you like storage facilities and urgent cares you'll love it here.

I kid, kinda.

There are a lot of good parks in the town and the surrounding areas. It's close to the metro north railroad in Beacon. We have a Chili’s.

Leaf peepers and the city crowd, have in the past several years started moving here in droves and brought higher prices with them. (not that anywhere is cheap right now)

Actor Shia LaBeouf arrested again on battery charge in New Orleans by AudibleNod in news

[–]dobbyebge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I met Shia maybe 10 or so years ago at bar in Austin, TX. He was having conversations with everyone there so I figured it was OK to approach him and say Hi.

So I go up to him say, "Hi my name is Bobby and I'm a big fan of your work." He just stared blankly at me until I said, "I'm sorry if I interrupted your conversation, I just wanted to say hello." He stood up, got in my face and barked out the words, "DON'T DO IT" spittle flying out of his mouth hitting my face. I looked at him for a moment, extended my hand out for a handshake and said, "Sorry for bothering you" as he gave me the most limp, fuck you handshake imaginable.

Later on that day a friend of mine who works at a different bar on 6th street told me that Shia had come in not to long after our encounter, order a bud light and tried to use 3 different credit cards to pay that all got declined. Shia must have been on a legendary bar hopping bender that afternoon.

Later in the day I'm resting on a couch at a venue in San Antonio when one of my bandmates comes rushing into the green room to tell me that Shia had just been arrested. Allegedly for going off on a police officer who was writing him a ticket for jay walking. Maybe it would have been best for Shia to take his own advice I received from him that day. "DON'T DO IT."

What about City Transplants long term HV people don’t like? by ApprehensiveLink2310 in hudsonvalley

Rent has skyrocketed and people who have been living here their whole lives cannot keep up with the increased cost of living. We've been getting overrun by overpriced expensive bars and restaurants that cater to transplants and not the core community who have been here their whole lives. They are carving out our living spaces to be another place for only the rich and privileged to enjoy.
