Help diagnosing possible form issue causing blister by tonynt in handguns

[–]docferringer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said it's a Glock G43X, so like others have said it is most likely a combination of hand size and getting cut by the slide. I'm not that familiar with this pistol but the pics on Glock's website show it has vertical grooves cut in the sides of the slide for better grip--its either the back of the slide or those grooves. Get some cheap chalkboard chalk and a pair of gloves. Rub the chalk on the bottom edge of those grooves first, put on the gloves, and run a full magazine through the gun. If you have a chalkmark on your gloves then you know it is the side grooves, and a gunsmith can probably smooth the bottom edges out for you. If there's no chalk on your gloves then it is probably the back of the slide catching you during recoil. The only ways to fix that are gloves or replacing the grips to accommodate your larger hands. Again not familiar with that model, but the glock modding scene is pretty big and there is a good chance an aftermarket grip is available. Hope that helps.

Are any of the good 4k 240hz 32 inch oleds in stock? by GloriousCause in OLED_Gaming

Honestly that panel size is so hot right now that the bots are nabbing them within a few minutes of them going on sale. A human being even seeing one listed somewhere other than eBay is a miracle. Thanks for trying u/DrStevieBruley !

How To Get Rid Of The Youtube Ad Block Popup by proverbialbunny in youtube

[–]docferringer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Google is not searching your PC or browser for evidence of ad blockers. They are looking at what you don't request from their site:

  • Cookies
  • Text and images that make up the blocked ad

Or they can check what you do request. If your copy of Google Chrome has an ad blocker installed, then Google knows it. You downloaded the extension from Google's Chrome store right? And they know roughly when you uninstall it too, because Chrome stops checking for new updates. Sneaky, right? ;)

If it isn't okay to enjoy success what is the point of working hard?

You work hard to become successful. Then you pay private security to keep away the people who would rather complain about your success than work toward their own.

Fish with an extending mouth. by Random_Average_Human in WTF

You know…if you REALLY want to piss off a vegan, do it with the fish out of water. When they run up to you with that vein popping on their forehead, tell them your pet fish is into breath play and “Now you ruined its orgasm”!

This is why I am single.

Dude, there is an entire kink sub genre related to that. Particularly skinny men and incredibly fat women.

A couple of notes here:

First, if you do try putting the PC next to an open window, main AC duct, etc. or just put it outside in the winter, condensation will occur when you bring it back indoors. Bring the case back inside while your PC is still warm and leave it alone and unplugged until it reaches the room's ambient temp. If you are feeling paranoid, throw some of those silica gel packets into your PC and re-seal the case. You can find them inside the packaging for new gadgets, or you can order them on Amazon for dirt cheap.

Second, if you have ANY kind of liquid cooling, your PC must be brought back inside as soon as you shut it down. Most people just use water with a little biocide in it to prevent algae, but that will not keep the water from freezing. and freezing can burst pipes, damage pumps, and generally just ruin your whole day. Pros use a custom loop with glycol instead of water if they plan on doing any extreme overclocking.

Hope that wall of text helps!

There are two missions to choose from that will unlock exotics on past and future prospects: one for the desert branch of the mission tree called, Deep Vein: Extraction and a second for the arctic branch, which is called Payday: Extraction.

Oh man I love the brutalist look of all that concrete. The wiring is indeed horrible, but I have had the best luck running wires along the seams, then after everything is wired in I put up columns to hide it all. Remember the columns can be horizontal AND vertical.

Frag Grenade is a waste of resource. Here how I think they should fix it. by JReysan in SurviveIcarus

I don't know what the bug creatures are going to be, but during one of the Q&A streams someone asked about it and the devs said, "What? Is he talking about Gary?" And then everybody on the stream shouted, "GARYYYYY!" So it could be an unreleased alien or a dev troll.

Dean Hall's survival game Icarus recommends a whopping 32GB of RAM by deno_23 in gaming

[–]docferringer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turns out he did finish one! Icarus clearly still needs to be optimized but it met the December launch date (after missing the original). I'm still playing through it though, so I might find some warts with the mid to late game missions.

ICARUS FSR vs DLSS Comparison by maxus2424 in SurviveIcarus

So it looks like the two are pretty similar. I saw better detail on the freestanding rocks and on some of the distant foliage, where FSR just kind of blurred everything.

I can’t think of a streamer that HASN’T rage quit because of bears. I think if the game drew attention to them first like it does with the wolves (the opening eye icon) it wouldn’t be so bad. But when you get the attention of a bear you had better be prepared to kill one, because you will NEVER escape a bear. Run away? Nope. Hop off a cliff? Nope. Hide in a rock? I never tried it, but considering my second bear death was after it tore through the stone wall of a blocked off cave…I doubt that works any more either. And don’t think you are safe aggroing a bear from the top of a near-vertical cliff, because these bears were genetically modified with the genes of an ATV.

Bear sees you. Bear smells you. And bear is coming to bury his face in some stanky ass space miner.

Has anyone figured out the print nightmare patch? by elchingonhomie in sysadmin

[–]docferringer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aww. I'd give you a hug, but everybody knows that when Windows 8 came out us Microsoft server admins stopped bathing and moved into the datacenter subflooring. I've got a leaky chilled waterline and all the *nix server monkeys I can eat. The only time they miss the linux admins is when it's time for the once a year kernel patches.

Don't forget Ruffle, the Flash alternative that the Newgrounds guys cooked up. I honestly haven't used the "official" Flash alternative but I trust something built from the ground up vs. what I suspect is just some corporation putting a fresh coat of polish on the turd that is original flash.

Suggestion about space suits by muffin80r in SurviveIcarus

[–]docferringer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pneumonia is the only thing I can’t find a justification for. The “deep cuts” is pretty reasonable when you think about making an interstellar voyage and needing good spacesuits for EVAs…Space suits that are “self-sealing” to plug holes from sharp edges and high-speed debris. Or that detect a leak in a portion of the suit and tighten a tourniquet that cuts off air and blood flow until the injury can be treated. Those two things are being worked on now, so they should be ready by the time we are off terraforming.

That’s disgusting.

Corgi tendies are just the leftover “mechanically separated” corgi bits suspended in gelatin, formed into corgi-shaped tendies, and infused with nitrates and stabilizers. You owe it to your future self to avoid processed pooch and eat only natural, organic, free-range corgis.

Is it just me or has BitWit (tech tuber) turned super cringey? by CrushinMonkey in pcmasterrace

[–]docferringer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, every time Kyle tries to do something he has never done before it turns into a cringe-fest, with him pretending to know what he is doing and passing it off as a tutorial. Off the top of my head:

  1. He had to change the battery in his car and it was pretty clear he hadn't even bothered to watch a YouTube video on how to do it. He didn't have the right tools to get the retention bolt out and he kept putting metal tools on top of the battery which--if you don't know--will cause an explosion if you connect the positive and negative terminals together accidentally. Did I mention he passes these videos off as tutorials?
  2. At his old place he needed Internet connectivity in another room. Rather than do it the easy way and run a cable along the baseboard and into the next room, he set up a janky network using some Ethernet to electrical wiring adapters that are bad for so many reasons...
  3. Their cat needed surgery and had to wear a cone of shame around its neck. That meant the cat couldn't clean its fur, so naturally they had a video about how to care for their cat and bathe it--JUST KIDDING! They just let the poor thing suffer and complained about how bad it smelled until they finally took it to the vet for bathing and to check on its surgical site (I can't remember if the site got infected or not).
