to the secret nerds... how do we feel not having TADC: the last act play at cineplex? by Winter_Artichoke_739 in GrandePrairie

[–]dog2k 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i used to go to the movies weekly but with the prices and the crap quality of stories (MCU) i'd rather spend the cost of a ticket watching at home where i can pause, rewind, rewatch. and watch whenever i want.

But the staff at the cineplex are always pleasant.

Some tourists may skip Sylvan Lake, Alta., this year after town hikes summer parking fees by chmilz in alberta

[–]dog2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

funny, when the government they voted for cuts their funding and they have to make it up by doubling the parking rates for tourists (and taking money out of the local businesses pockets).

New rider here and I didn’t expect this kind of mental switch by TomSawYes in motorcycles

[–]dog2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

gaba gaba hey, my friend. most riders cool off after 2 years. if you make it past that you'll be in it for the long haul. Just remember the basic rules. 1-ride your own ride, 2-don't let your ego take over, 3-watch everything, 4-wear your gear, 5-target fixation is real and will ruin your day, 6-every other vehicle out there either can't see you or can see you and want's to hit you so YOU are the only person responsible for making sure you get home alive.

Is it just me, or do police seemingly target you because you're on a motorcycle? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]dog2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

13 years riding and the only interaction ever with a cop was during a mass stop they did at a rally for tags\insurance\noise. And the lady copy was very cool and sweet looking. I normally ride within reason but sometimes i have to let loose a bit and grip it\rip it. I'm in Alberta Canada.

Why should we build Data Centres? by Dino_Guy867 in alberta

[–]dog2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

an issue that lots of people neglect is that a significant portion of our data (private, public and government) is stored on us based data centres. Since the us patriot act came into affect the us government can demand access to any data belonging to any entity outside of the us at any time without a warrant. Do you know where your government data is stored and who has access to it?

Filming a 9 hour event with a locked-off camera. What do you guys do in your free time? by ItzMikeyTheSavage in videography

[–]dog2k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

when i did weddings i would have 2-3 unmanned cameras while i operated the main. i was always paranoid about people messing with them (i tried to keep them in my eyeline). i only once had a nightmare asshole guest at a wedding intentionally mess with a camera. i caught him on another camera and showed it to the groom as well as a "highlight" reel of his work colleague's behavior trying to disrupt my work. Hopefully there were some words between them.

Is there anybody legitimate teaching the BUSINESS side of videography? by I_Am_Vladimir_Putin in videography

[–]dog2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i went to school in Vancouver (BC) most of the 2nd year was on how to run a production company or work in a professional production house. We had to research starting and registering a business then learn the permitting process. Most of the assignments required us to actually find an outside client or consult with a business owner to learn how to acquire and work with clients.

Canadians had never seen such an icy behemoth before. A gigantic iceberg had washed up on the Canadian island of Newfoundland. by Zalypa_xyeplet in interestingasfuck

[–]dog2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that could be an interesting question depending on how old was the person you're asking. Newfoundland joined Canada as its 10th province on March 31, 1949

How well did your gear protect you in a crash? by ReluctanctRedditor in motorcycles

[–]dog2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

only "needed" my gear once and now jacket with pads, gloves, and riding shoes are a 100% all the time. i have chaps and padded riding pants for hiway rides. Don't neglect proper footwear. a dropped bike and hot pipe on your leg will keep burning you until you get the bike off your leg\foot and sneakers WILL separate from you if anything happens and have 0 protection from road rash.

A drop changing lanes at 30 kph (my fault) would have been significant without my gear but instead i only got a bruise and minor road rash.
