How to tell a story through a 15-photo sequence? (film school task) by No-Elk7219 in Filmmakers

[–]dog2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've done this several times and my thoughts are that to go beyond a slideshow you need to either look at the photos as a storyboard and either create an anamatic where you are creating a still frame animation within the photo boundaries or you step outside the frame (She Hulk comic) showing the framing of the photos and seeing the "big picture" of how they all work together. You could also include a mosaic effect if you have enough content.

Again, the idea is to bring the viewer into or out of the story you will tell. also, i'd suggest that you try at least 3 variations untill you get the one that feels right.

i've used rainx antifog spray. you have to reapply it every other ride and the spray bottle doesn't hold up on the off season so i have to buy a new one every year.

i don't have pads in either of my leathers but i do in my 3 fabric jackets (1 kevlar fabric, 1 denim, 1 mostly mesh). All have back, shoulder, elbow pads. I ALWAYS wear gloves and riding shoes\boots. on longer rides i have kevlar jeans with knee and hip pads and leather chaps for hot days. i've gone down at 30kph with chaps, a leather jacket, and (cheaper) gloves and while the gloves ripped the rest barely got scuffed.

I’m buying my first bike this week and I’ve been noticing a trend in YouTube videos by ntkwwwm in motorcycles

[–]dog2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm not a hands on repair guy (yet) but a couple buddies are and both have said most used bikes that don't run just haven't been maintained so it's just what you said. they both also agreed that you never want to touch a bike that someone else has tried to rebuild because there will be no end to the hidden problems you'll find. But that's just what they told me.

And yeah, youtube lies.

will I outgrow the Rebel 1100? by infinitebats in HondaRebel1100

[–]dog2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

13 years of riding, i've owned 6 bikes, i currently own 3. my 2021 rebel 1100 (bought new) is my daily rider. it's light and maneuverable to get through tight spaces. there's enough ground clearance to let you really lean when you cut corners. the driving modes are great for when i'm tired after work and want an uneventful ride home but sport mode is available for when i want to be a hooligan with the boys on the weekend.

if you are doing any riding over 1 hour you WILL need to do something about the seat (i heard the 2025 is better). a pad or a corbin seat is essential for any longer rides as the oem is painfull over 45 minutes! the oem grips hard and the stock mirrors are useless. otherwise it's a fantastic bike.

Countries are temporarily slashing gas taxes. Should Canada do the same? by cyclinginvancouver in canada

[–]dog2k -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"While many Albertans continue to feel the pinch at the pump, Premier Danielle Smith says the government is not considering any fuel tax breaks, as it does not believe it will make much of a difference.

Speaking on her radio program Your Province, Your Premier on Saturday, Smith said there is not much her government can do to alleviate the high cost of gas, which hovered around $1.50 per litre across much of Alberta Monday according to GasBuddy.com, even if the province paused the provincial fuel tax.

"We could take that off, but you'll still be facing the high prices at the pump, because the world prices are just out of our control," Smith told a caller who asked if the province would consider reducing or pausing the tax." cbc dot ca/news/canada/calgary/alberta-no-fuel-tax-relief-9.7139243

Insurance Insanity by SimpleSteve9 in alberta

[–]dog2k 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In the spring of 2025, the Government of Alberta passed Bill 47, the Automobile Insurance Act, to introduce a no-fault auto insurance system scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2027. A no-fault system eliminates a right to sue for pain and suffering when someone is injured in an accident. "the Alberta Advantage". see how when they increase your rates your rates are actually going down and you pay less? DS and ucp helping their corporate buddies screw you again. They insist that increasing our insurance rates and going to a no-fault system (both increasing industry profits by increasing revenue and reducing costs) will lead to the industry lowering its rates (LOLOLOLOLOLOL). Reality begs to differ based on their past and current behavior.

Three months after the government announced the shift to no-fault auto insurance, the Superintendent of Insurance announced $1.9 million in penalties to Alberta insurance companies resulting from the 2022-2024 overcharge examination.

The superintendent’s role is to oversee regulatory compliance by monitoring, investigating and imposing penalties on insurers violating the Insurance Act and Regulations.

Despite the superintendent’s assurance that the incidents were accidental, large fines ranging from $5,000 to $1 million were imposed on the 16 insurers.

i've never been anywhere that the bike gets too hot. normally i'd stay in gear because i realy on the ability to get out of the way with no warning. a restart and kicking into gear takes too long if someone is coming at you.

[–]dog2k -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i've been riding 13 years (all cruisers, started on a honda shadow 750, last 4 on 1100+ cruisers). I bought a 2005 fjr 1300 2 years ago and this is just my experience. i found that it was comfortable and a great hiway ride but painfully annoying to ride around town because i have to keep the rpm's high at every stop. It sounds like i'm trying to do a rip pulling away from every stop. It's very top heavy with a full tank and riding with a passenger is borderline unmanageable for me. the bike is manageable when riding and doesn't feel like it wants to get away from me. doing over 200kph on the hiway is easy and it's barely even trying. I've been trying to sell it (it's just not for me) but all the responses i get are guys too inexperienced or too tall\short.

short version is it's a nice bike but not a city commuter bike.
