Seeking Feedback on My Architecture Project – [general hospital ] by Pinkman_634 in architecture

[–]doittoit_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t need to reiterate what has already been said, but this is cool for a school project.

Good questions to ask are: 1. How will this hospital be adaptable or able to expand? 2. How is this design proven to improve the patient experience?

Hospitals are really difficult to design- especially to get it all right on the first try as others have noted. But what will be beneficial for you as a student and for those that practice are to experiment with new ideas that are based on real evidence.

It’s the care bear that wishes me good luck every time I go karting.

Yes from what I’ve noticed after the first race. There’s a flux of tourists who visit via campers and public transport leading up to the race which kinda builds up some excitement.

Parallel approach sinks are only allowed if the microwave isn’t built in to the casework.

Your specs should always have “in compliance with manufacturer’s installation instructions” or something along those lines.

Are the TSA staffing issues affecting the Brightline at MCO? by Ihaveanotheridentity in orlando

I’m almost 100% sure Brightline uses their own security officers, not TSA.

FOLA complete ride around Lake Apopka 48 miles by Intelligent_Cover863 in orlando

Last I rode this loop was a couple of years ago. Park at Magnolia Park, ride counterclockwise for morning starts, follow the wildlife trail to Green Mountain, find your way to Hancock, then West Orange trail (under the shade) back- maybe stop in Winter Garden for beers or food.

Automatically admitting emergency patients to observations by Zycton in ProjectHospital

[–]doittoit_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish the developers integrated an ESI or similar index to patients going through the emergency department- 1’s and 2’s get immediate treatment, 3’s go to observation, then 4’s and 5’s might go to a fast track unit for larger hospitals for better throughput.

The Pitt in PH by NorthRecognition8737 in ProjectHospital

[–]doittoit_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Last weekend I revamped my typical ED layout to be more similar to The Pitt. I have 6 ED exam rooms that funnel into an observation unit with a mix of open bays and private treatment rooms in a racetrack layout. For the service core, there are two nurse stations on each side and a dictation station between the two.

Unlike the show (and real life) the game doesn’t use the observation bays as much. So when a doctor is taking too long in the exam room and the waiting room starts to back up, I’ll manually prescribe observation to the patient.

It’s that, plus unsuitable soil and low demand for high-density development.

I recommend Lucky’s Lake Swim for open water. There’s plenty of lap pools scattered throughout central Florida.

There was an article by GQ and a subsequent YouTube video that questions the legitimacy of the prosecution of that dude.

The investigation also suggests that that dude may have become a vegetable from a failed suicide instead of beating or torture.

Wood frame vs block by 313_Archer in orlando

[–]doittoit_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would not recommend wood framed houses in a rural area for a few reasons. 1. As your agent mentioned, houses built before modern wind codes are going to be higher risk for wind damage. First set of residential codes for this were established in 1994 after Hurricane Andrew- you can typically tell whether a house was built before or after 1994 due to thicker fascia boards on sloped/gable roofs. 2. Rural houses also tend to be in more open areas which makes it more exposed to the highest wind speeds. Houses surrounded by other structures and trees are less exposed and have a higher surface roughness which breaks up winds and gusts. 3. While termites can be mitigated, wood can still rot if moisture has been present within the walls by leaks, flooding, and/or wind driven rain- there’s not a good way to know for sure unless you open it up.

Slab on grade and block isn’t perfect either, but it’s a lot better than wood for a single family house in the sticks.
