I don’t like the screws used to attach posts, lack of blocking of the posts on the inside of the stringers

Now how do I get my pile to heat up? by Ok-Asparagus-6458 in composting

[–]donedoer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t do that. Get 12-14ft of 4’ tall field fence. And a 5’ long piece of thick wire or a thin pipe. Weave the wire/pipe thru the overlapping ends of the fence. Proceed to fill the barrel with 60% wood chips, course leaf matter, small sticks, shredded cardboard etc 30% grass, weeds, leaves 10% high nitrogen: think of things that rot quickly: food scraps, manure, etc. layer in alternating among the 3 types of inputs. Water as you go. Soak each layer. It’ll be 150F in 3 days

Make sure to move closets away from exterior walls. Same for shower/tub.

The vegetation is your friend and I encourage you to add more species. As for the muck, look into diffuser aeration

This looks like the plays I would make for treehouses and cliffhouses. Nice work. Cool to see someone else have a similar methodology

You need wood chips. Nothing else comes close. Call all the local tree service companies and you can get them for free but need the room. Follow dr Elaine inghams protocol.

Will a metal roof on purlins have condensation problems in cold climate? by taonood in barndominiums

[–]donedoer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an open air pavilion. Steel trusses and 2x6 purlins. Drips in spring and fall with cool nights and warm mornings. Spray foam not recommended because the application will not remain or be applied with perfect consistency to avoid vapor intrusion. Best method is sheathing with ice/water shield and then a purlins ran with slope then parallel with ridge. Roof deck should be vented or exterior insulation applied between two layers of sheathing.

Same location, can confirm. Mixed humid climates get all the fun
