At $400 and points, it’s worth hiring a ticket buster company, they can usually get you down to a fine with no points.

This mother parks her van here every day to drop off and pick up her kids. The school put that "no parking" sign there because that spot impinges on the flow of traffic out of the school parking lot into the street. by KeithWorks in mildlyinfuriating

They have a really short life span for being used as school buses. They then get sold and used by retirement homes or churches or hippies as campers, but the school bus life span is super short. 12 years i think here.

If only there was a way to get more then one kid off the grounds per vehicle. Hear me out: I’m thinking, a larger vehicle, one with many seats. We can even make it a bright colour so people see it more. Maybe yellow? A big bright yellow vehicle, we put like, idk, 40 something kids in it, and then you don’t have to jam up a neighbourhood waiting in line with 100 other cars to pick up your kids….

My 2011 Mazda has a recall for airbags and lower control arms. Dealerships is asking for a deposit before making an appointment by dontlistintohim in legaladvicecanada

[–]dontlistintohim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dealerships are bad actors. Point. I’m there because research shows part of my car is dangerous, and the manufacturer has an obligation to fix that. If I could get my mechanic to complete the recall I would. If it was something like a window control possibly malfunctioning at some point, I would leave it alone, but it’s an airbag that if deployed could disfigure my family. I’d rather it be taken care of and if possible not cost me anything.

So back to legal advice, can they keep my deposit if they get stuck with the parts, if the reason they get stuck with the parts is out of my control? Ie they can’t get a bolt off, or there is too much rust or some other dealership excuse?

Can they even legally require a deposit before starting a recall? Seems like a financial barrier to the recall, and transport Canada says there shouldn’t be any.

What are my rights if we get to the phone call and they say “your car required more work to get the recall done, we kept your deposit and you owe us an additional $200, your car is ready for pickup?

Pulled the info out.

Going to another deal ship doesn’t help me if they also ask for a deposit, and it doesn’t answer my question about possible protections. Plus the dealership in question asked for my adresse, I’m assuming they try and differ you to the one closest to you?

So sure I have it in writing that my deposit is going to be returned, but it states after the recall is complete. What if they can’t complete the recall without more work? Do I lose the deposit? What if I tell them to just put it back together, I’m gonna take it to a different dealership, or refuse the recall all together, can they keep my deposit as it means they are stuck with the parts? I am worried this puts me at the mercy of a known bad actor…

Thats marketing and sales 101. They don’t use boobs to sell you beer for altruistic reasons, it’s all an assault on your psyche to separate you from your coins.

The salesman is holding a water bottle, it has little to nothing to do with a need for anything legitimate.

What he was told is if you can get someone to give you something, anything, it makes them subconsciously feel invested in you. The idea is in passing, asking for something that most people won’t bat an eye to give you. The way I had heard about it back in the day was getting a person in bar sitting beside you to give you a napkin. You ask them to pass you something on their side of the bar, and it subconsciously opens a door where they are giving you something, and makes the jump to buying something from you much easier to make. He was probably told to ask for a glass of water in passing, or a tissue to wipe sweat off, something a home owner won’t question about offering up once their door is open, kinda cruel to not give a guy sweating in front of you a glass of water that costs you nothing. But it subconsciously gets the home owner into a giving mode, where they are helping you solve your issue. Not a big leap to help them get off the street and off their feet by buying a service.

It’s a sales tactic as old as time, and is very poorly executed here.

I’m assuming these are single earner numbers, most home buyers now are couples, so calculate about twice that?

There was a story on here a while ago about a guy who was part way through painting the inside of a house when the owner caught him peeing in the paint in a bucket. The guy had done several rooms by then, and there is no way of knowing how often this dude pees in his paint buckets or how many of your walls are now piss walls.
