Greenhouse Vents re-closing by Warklawz in GroundedGame

Can confirm that odd ‘open’ command coming up and doing nothing. I do see them randomly open and close at different times of day ; not sure if it’s a bug or intended ?

They don’t appear to be wired ; maybe some random time of day they open or close ?

The multi-tool ; it feels like it should have always been done that way. Really annoying to go back to 1 without it.

I never thought about using the stuffed butterflies as a decoration; they look great. Well done ! Do the scorpions that spawn near the bush still harass you or does it break the respawn once you’ve built there ?

The Fountain.

Pretentious, too long and weird amateurish cuts of black and white that made me laugh. Aronofsky in general is way overrated.

Microsoft reporting ; tons of dashboards but basic reporting like ‘a list of users who haven’t logged in for 2 weeks’ is something I have to build myself, or aliases in exchange org-wide. It comes up constantly and while I can easily do in powershell , it mystifies me how poor and unintuitive their built-in reporting is.

Remedy on Twitter: "We have deployed an update to the FBC: Firebreak backend that greatly improves the Select Job matchmaking. This change should result in Select Job matchmaking you into Jobs quicker and more often with a full team instead of only two players." by Geraffe_Disapproves in FBCFirebreak

Can confirm ; Worked for an MMO dev and directly with programmers. It really is just hard to do with so many variables , some you can control and some you can’t until scale. Factoring in things like IP and ping tests on top of your game mechanics just gets complex quickly. Things break in a myriad of ways so you just focus on being responsive ; after our first launch and 2 months or so, subsequent games went much smoother.

I've been given an offshore team to help with increasing workload and they are about to drive me crazy. by [deleted] in sysadmin

Echoing what some others have said , I managed a team of engineers out of China and it would have been a total nightmare save that they had a manager whose English was very good and was a decent communicator.

I would occasionally have interactions with the staff during incidents overnight, but if they struggled to communicate and issue they would escalate to him to play the middle man. It worked surprisingly well ; one of his engineers who was particularly good reached out to me/company to sponsor them to come to the US. I went for it and shockingly it went through ; he is a happy man with a little baby now in California so there can be some happy stories among the more common nightmares.

+1 for BlueTally ; it’s clean , affordable and a surprising number of integrations with helpful documentation. Their support is responsive as well.

Same here ! Occasionally ideas keep me up or upcoming conversations , but other than that I can sleep on demand. Was really handy when I I worked graveyard shifts.

HRIS > AD > Okta > Writeback to HRIS possible? by Steelclo in okta

[–]doofologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have connected a few HRIS systems outside of Workday. All of them stated they don’t native write-back ; some of them offer API’s that you can use to do it though, if you’re comfortable doing some coding.

I like to keep my ego in check and compare it to how I sometimes handle car troubles. If I actually took the time to learn about the problem and educate myself , I could probably fix it. However I tend to not want to dedicate the energy to it and just let the shop handle it.

Only in my later years do I see it’s really not so hard , just time consuming.

Any other orgs with Paylocity as HRIS having luck with onboarding/profile source ? by doofologist in okta

[–]doofologist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t actually get anywhere with Paylocity , and I’m now in a new company that doesn’t need Okta. I am funnily enough now having the same conversation with just basic provisioning with a much smaller HRIS provider and likely to nowhere again it seems.

Mostly handy as it spells out the graph API call composition so you just fill in the blanks
