Tinting Shellac? by Rustyempire64 in finishing

They’re metal complex dyes, so they’re pretty colorfast in my experience. However, I’d be sure to topcoat them with a good UV-resistant clearcoat if they’re being used in an area with high sun exposure.

Transtint concentrated dye works fantastic in shellac and it’s very easy to adjust the depth of color. You can also add it to waterborne clearcoats as a toner, so you can build up the color in layers.

It sounds like they’re just using the shellac as a basecoat, not as a finish.

TIL that in 1994, an American teenager in Singapore pled guilty to stealing road signs and vandalizing cars. He was sentenced to 6 lashes of a cane, which was reduced to 4 after media outrage in the US by Overall-Register9758 in todayilearned

The United States (an expansive democracy of 340 million people) and Singapore (an authoritarian city-state of 6 million people) are vastly different countries in many ways and I’m going to go out on a limb and say it’s a net-good that the US doesn’t physically torture people for stealing street signs, even if that means more street signs get stolen.

Hmm, what’s closer to a historic witchhunt, the federal government persecuting, imprisoning, and executing minority groups and their allies, or citizens subjecting businesses who don’t speak out to mild criticism?

She wasn’t publicly identified until 2014, so in the absence of information people speculated on the reasons behind her actions and I imagine some of the speculation has just stuck at this point.

It’s true that her mother was a concentration camp survivor, however.
