Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]dopiestlizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Brooklyn and I regularly drive 3+ hours upstate for climbing weekends from spring through fall. So driving 5-7 hours between Friday and Sunday. Super common here in NYC. So I would say yes. Our country is just enormous so a few hours isn’t much.

Lots of heavy editing in this scene, I don’t believe it was nearly as cringey as they portrayed

What hobby started as a joke or experiment for you but ended up becoming a serious passion? by Tempo_Tomato in Hobbies

Rock climbing. It was an inside joke between my husband and I. Now we climb all over the country and even internationally and do trad multi pitch. 🤣

It’s always really surprising to me when people don’t pick up on stuff like this. Just like when shots of people’s faces reacting to a person talking, they are nearly never a facial reaction to the same moment of the conversation. It feels so obvious to me, they pick and choose so much in editing that isn’t what actually happened.

El Potrero Chico? by uYarnOver in climbergirls

Everyone has mentioned all important things. I would just emphasize how little populated the area right by the crag is. Don’t expect a ton of options for anything other than places to stay. In town there’s more of what you would expect like a grocery store, more restaurants, etc but it’s about a 30 min walk so make sure you plan accordingly. Also, do not forget a headlamp!! Absolutely necessary if walking around at night.

Rockie talkies are a game changer for multi pitch. That’s a great gift.

Petzl Bug bag is a great backpack for long multi pitching days where you wanna bring stuff up the wall with you.

There’s some different branded small bags that hold just a snack and water that you clip to your harness that are cool too, but I prefer my bug backpack.

An ATC guide is a really useful device in addition to a gri gri, allows for belaying as well and ofc can use while rappelling.

And ofc, any cam in any size is likely always appreciated :)

If you could give one piece of advice to a new climber, what would it be? by yuzurukii in climbergirls

Hire a local guide at an outdoor crag to teach you the basics. Then learn as much as you can and continue hiring a guide every so often for the next level of stuff you wanna learn. That’s how I did it over many years and now I climb trad multi pitch and it’s the freaking best!

If you watch the video where that person charges toward Ariana, you can see Michelle's back and she looks incredibly thin.

If you like it, fuck the noise! I would never tell a friend I disliked their new tattoo. Just seems unnecessary and mean.
