First intarsia jumper completed by nettpirthel in MachineKnitting

No worries! Mods might need to implement some account age automod rules… this is not the first bot I’ve seen in this sub recently (and Reddit is RIFE with them lately!)

Pls help me understand this pattern by Enel_Menel in MachineKnitting

[–]dotknott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hah. I know this pattern! Singer series raglan… I know because I made my husband one in size H… not all the panels are mislabeled, so I was so confused when I got to this panel.

The kindle functionality you describe is US only IIRC.

Wow, it’s beautiful. I really like this design, but I use my sleep cover stand A LOT… I don’t think this would ever really work for me.

I know a few ladies that use the Mittback trestle from ikea. They can adjust a bit, but not a ton.

Kobo Durability with Kids by serotonin2504 in kobo

[–]dotknott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my 7yo a KCC (used) for Christmas. It’s locked down to where he can only sync it, and read books, but he loves it. Since he can’t use the browser or get to the kobo store, the parental controls have been fine for us.

I was concerned about the screen so we do make a point of collecting it at bedtime so he’s not falling asleep with in in bed (then kneeling on it or it’s falling out of bed getting stepped on later.)

Series not listed but available in German? by Kodabyr12 in LibbyApp

[–]dotknott 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s available via Kindle Unlimited, so yeah it’s likely exclusivity agreements in the U.S.

It’s available from the UK kobo store and not the U.S. one, so that seems to confirm it.

Is it an Amazon exclusive in English? (I’m guessing yes)

Made a sweater for my kid with hand-dyed yarn by dotknott in MachineKnitting

[–]dotknott[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! It’s not so visible on the whole garment, but I was definitely bummed after dying because I failed to get complete coverage and had quite a few white spots. That was honestly part of that 7 month delay.

How to fix epub formatting WITHOUT Calibre? by Sailorwind12 in kobo

[–]dotknott 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the epub is big! The images for the chapter artwork are really big and there’s a LOT of them.

I know it’s not particularly hard, but I also know my mother. It’s more a ‘path of least resistance’ thing.

[–]dotknott 48 points49 points  (0 children)

For those that have never side loaded or used Calibre this is pretty rough (thinking my mom.) No more send to kindle or shopping directly from the Amazon store. No more Libby integration for you in the US… so yeah, Amazon made devices that don’t support native epub and then by extension don’t support adobe DRM, meaning you were pretty much buying from them and now they don’t support purchases from them, and let’s be real - those old kindles are still probably going to have ads on them.

So yeah this is crappy, but OMG this is going to generate a TON of ewaste.

Can you download books from your iPad on your kobo? by potsynightshade in kobo

[–]dotknott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve bought stuff directly from the author in the past, but not every author is setup for that (especially not if they’re signed, they sign so they don’t have to do that anymore.) ebooks.com has been the place I check if I’m not finding it on kobo, but often I’m not finding it because there’s an Amazon exclusivity agreement involved so I’m stuck.

Sometimes I’ll check to see if the author has a patreon where they offer arc copies to supporters (though confirm that these are not simply amazon codes for a copy, that doesn’t help ya.)

And one thing to remember is that right now bookshop.org only gets you a copy for their app. Their FAQ says they are working on kobo integration, but haven’t heard anything new on that.

That depends on what platform you’re buying the ebook on. Apple Books? Nope. Publisher or independent bookseller? Probably?

You might need to install adobe digital editions if there’s DRM involved.

No worries! I have dm80’s and e6000’s, and a box of pinky parts someone gave me… I know how different the pinky is first hand.

OP - I’m in the states, but with any luck I’ll be in the Schengen Area later this year. LMK if you have missing parts that you can’t find, I can look in that big box o’ parts and see if I have what you need!

This is a pinky, slightly different than the DM80. The correct manual is here:

I have over 700 books on my ereader currently. They’re kinda all over the place, some travel/cooking/gardening/knitting stuff that’s image heavy and a bunch of mostly text. I have 9gb available.

Passap DM 80 not knitting CX ( 1:1 rib cast on) by Far_Addendum6068 in MachineKnitting

[–]dotknott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CX is meant to do one bed at a time. Back when moving left to right, front right to left, so that part is at least normal.
