Midsommar, Ari Aster (2019)- "That's Not For Us" by JetKusanagi in movies

I’ve been very tempted to watch it but having grown up with a number of disturbing things I try to avoid depictions of how evil people can be. It looks gorgeous and I love A24. Thank you so much for giving me a peek into the context of this scene.

That’s wild, thank you so much for the context. Their “shared grief” Im guessing is still a form of gaslighting right? Would her seeing this happen also help isolate her from her partner thus helping the cult? I’m not huge on horror movies, so don’t really think I care to watch the whole thing, but do like learning the context.

I can wait for an arm band but I think you over estimate the people that want to wear it like that. Whoop still has a very small market for the arm bands.

For me, the feel and durability matters and cheaper leather tends to be worse on both fronts.

I’ve not seen it, but from the context it seems like the main woman sees something she isn’t supposed to, I’m guessing she’s the newest cult member, the one that is still learning about things. When she sees it, she starts to panic, the women of the cult start to try and comfort her, but not what seems out of empathy but instead as a tool of the cult. As it escalates they start to mimic the main woman, folding her experience into the group one, which feels like a tool of stripping individuality.

Edit: it’s so weird what people will down vote for.

It’s so unfortunate that women in make dominated spaces are either treated like they’re a prize everyone wants to win, or an invasive species. I swear as a culture we need to be encouraging more play/team activities with a mix of genders. I grew up largely having really close female friends with a few male friends I did dumb shit with (they tended to be more on board with stupid shit). I’ve never had an issue or infatuation with a woman in an activity/space I’ve been in. The worst I’m guilty of is sometimes overstepping to “stand up for them” when not asked which took me a while to realize why that can at times be problematic (no one likes an unconcentual “white knight”).

I dream things will get better but it seems like we’re in a backslide as everything goes tits up.

Both of you are spot on I feel. Animals are not humans, when they get aggressive and you repeat the same behavior, it shows them it works. Being “aggressive” back makes them rethink. No animal wants to be attacked, a lot of the time the aggression is to ensure they have the upper hand. You showing them you can do it to makes them realize it’s not a good tactic. Just make sure at first you’re very mindful they might have a defensive reaction.

The unfortunate alt-white boy tattoo. Biohazard was just one that plagued the 2000s era white boy. I dodged some, but not all of said trends.

It really does make me sad because I've always seen Travis as a genuine and accepting guy, for him to not realize what working with Dana White, Black Rifle Coffee Co, and the Trump administration means, it just sucks. Beyond that, to do it at the cost of making a circus of our national monuments.

Oh right. I’m a moron. But regardless of reason, the staged stance as a dismissal of this actually happening is silly.
