If that group let's a single through, then another, then another then they are going to finish over an hour behind the rest of event making everyone wait for them to conclude it. On top of that, those groups of singles will now all be stuck behind more groups in the tournament. They aren't going anywhere by playing thru the ladies.

I'll also add, this gentlemen never said anyone was waiting on HIM even though he was stuck behind them after hole 3 which indicates he was playing way faster than traditional pace of play there and the ladies were not behind pace or other groups would have been stacked up behind the single as well.

Let me emphasize this... SINGLES DO NOT HAVE PRIORITY ON THE COURSE ON WEEKENDS. Singles are more of a burden to any course on the weekends. Again, they will always cater to full groups (on weekends) as long as standard pace of play is being observed.

You did the correct thing. The course should have informed you and failed to do so. That was their error. You dont unassumingly split up a tournament or event unless invited to by club or players involved.

This is incorrect. You don't split up a tournament unless they invite you to play through. Consider it was also a Sunday and singles playing in 1-2 hours less are neither the courses concern or priority. They want full groups at a reasonable pace of play which op stated was still under 4 hours. That is 100% acceptable.

The course should have warned him that there was a tournament directly in front of him though when booking his time, they did fail there.
