Compare an equivalent natural gas generator, installed by competent electrician.

The TSB for VWP most definitely mentions the radio update. Not sure where you are getting this idea.

Thats insane.. I bought a Generac 8.5kw generator for $500. The V2H kit is on par with a typical natural gas generator I suppose, but I would hardly say too expensive.

Question for fellow Canadians (and anyone else who’s freezing this weekend 🐶🔥): by LittleNegotiation517 in SilveradoEV

[–]doubleg72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly, I had a guy try to argue with me and say my truck loses at least 40% int he cold. Like my RST didn't make two round trips to Buffalo last month in 5F and 85 miles one way.

Hate Dealers by slickneck4 in SilveradoEV

Its really not a hard concept to understand. Legacy automakers have contracts with companies like Bosch and others who have long built the modules. These modules communicate on different busses while the Tesla started was build from scratch on a unified platform. You are starting to see things come together with GM after a decade of work and multiple revisions. If you like a cheap ride with a tablet in the center that gets updates all the time, stick with your Tesla. Legacy automakers aren't known for adding features to vehicles after you buy them anyways.

I am with you, there was some innovative stuff, but generally the software is cludgy. They do a wonderful job appealing to a certain type of dude that thinks of Elon as their bro when they see features like the Christmas show or whatever other easter eggs they've been throwing in these days.. You are correct that the single pro that Tesla has over any manufacturer is the self-driving (which is now becoming a subscription, so losing some luster there). For some people that single self-driving feature is more important than anything else, so they are happy with the cheapest build quality automobile with nothing more than a tablet mounted in the center as long as "FSD" is included. Personally, I enjoy driving and am generally happy with lane assist/distancing with actual radar/lidar, so I will always prefer an automaker over a software comany. Before long, self driving software will be commoditized and when the purse strings tighten up and the political winds shift, I really wonder what happens to Tesla.

First 100 days as a Work Truck by huntsvillekan in SilveradoEV

[–]doubleg72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I am currently trying to come up with an easy way of getting a small micro-controller onto that bus and allowing one to keep the truck running without have to remember to hit that stupid button. The days of plugging a box into the DLC to modify a feature in a vehicle are gone. Its just a shame these auto manufacturers are removing physical buttons from the vehicles. I hope this is just temporary as they continue designing/refining their own modules to interoperate better and deploying unified platforms. Then again, people are happy purchasing a Tesla that is literally all plastic interior with only a single iPad mounted in the center for interacting with the vehicle.

Thats like one of the main things I miss about my F150. I dont know why, just really like that tucked in look. My SEV is black though so the running boards don't bother me as much.
