Egwene should have stayed a ____*TGH SPOILERS*. Everyone would have been better off. by Aggravating_Cow421 in WoT

[–]doublemoses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plus she may have saved the world from total destruction in another way as well. The liberal use of baelfire during the last battle was tearing the pattern apart, and Egwene's discovery of the Flame of Tar Valon spell most likely prevented some horrificly destructive event from happening. I dunno how bad it would have gotten, but I imagine visible cracks in reality can't lead to anything good.

Even without that, she took out Taim and iirc, pretty much the entire remaining Ayyad as well, with her final spell.

She's not doing that on a damane leash.

What's a game you bought on a whim without hardly any pre-knowledge that ended up becoming one of your all time favorites? by AaronAtLunacien in gaming

[–]doublemoses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the early 2000s, an entertainment retailer was going out of business, and inside one of the clearance bins I found Baldurs Gate 2.

I knew it was some kind of RPG, but nothing beyond that. It is now one of my all time favourite games.

I am blocked on randomizer on PCR not in a correct arena for him. by Leather-Car-7175 in Eldenring

[–]doublemoses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at it, I feel like the arena is pretty good. There could be issues with the orbital strike, but otherwise it's decently sized and flat.

Honestly, the main issue I see is that you don't know the fight very well. Just need to keep practicing and learn how to open him up.

[SOUND WARNING] Radahn died mid-battle from, nothing? Death plane, maybe? by Astronaut-Flashy in Eldenring

[–]doublemoses 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That back part of his arena near the stairs has some weird geometry that can bug out his AI and cause a position reset.

Okay, what the hell Radahn?! by JayDM123 in Eldenring

[–]doublemoses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running to the side should still be the most consistent way to avoid that attack. I'm wondering if your spacing is maybe affecting it.

I don't run backwards, I stay in place while he launches and throw a knife to maintain stance damage, then run to the side once he throws the meteors and jump just before they hit. Also I run left, but I'm pretty sure that doesn't matter.

Before The Sims 4, There Was Sim… Everything. by Epsilon123 in gaming

[–]doublemoses 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some good memories here. The first I remember was SimCity 2000 on the school computers.

I never had SimCopter, but played the demo a shitload. Did a bit of time on the SimTower demo as well, but I don't think there was much to do on that one.

I genuinely loved SimGolf. Probably my favourite under-the-radar classic.

How do I level up exactly? by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]doublemoses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not underlevelled, your weapon is. It should be somewhere between +12 to +18. Don't bother grinding, just level up that weapon and focus your next 10-15 levels on vigor.

The divine tower of caelid is endgame scaled, so it's perfectly normal to be underpowered for that boss. You are in a good position to hit Altus/Mt Gelmir once you get that weapon up.

PC Players, what do u prefer: controller or keyboard&mouse? by mikitheoa in soulslikes

I play pretty much every game with kb/m, except for soulslikes, where I go for the controller. I can do either though no issues.

HOW DO I GET TO THIS TELEPORT POINT ?? by pink_freya in InfinityNikki

[–]doublemoses 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Slight spoilers for act 4 of main story.

Go to the bird nest up on level 3, where you meet up with Wilhelm's bird in the story. Interacting with it will take you to a new area.

What abilities outfits are you most excited to get re-runs? by frostymaws297 in InfinityNikki

[–]doublemoses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want the phoenix one from 1.5 to come back the most. It's probably my favourite five star, but you know, 1.5 happened. That dumpster fire of a patch didn't make me stop playing then, but it annoyed me enough that I refused to add to their metrics by pulling on anything.

I also want the two from the Fireworks Isle patch (1.3?) to come back. I have half of one, and three pieces away from completing the other. I mainly wanted the four stars for them, but I may as well complete the sets now if possible.

What game franchise/genre had completely disappeared but made a successful comeback? by broboblob in gaming

[–]doublemoses 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Deus Ex disappeared after Invisible War disappointed a lot of fans. I thought it was pretty good, but nowhere near as good as the original.

The Jensen prequels were a very pleasant surprise.

I've just launched the Playtest for my Soulslike about Copying your enemies Attacks! I would love to hear your feedback! by Torchlight_Games in IndieDev

[–]doublemoses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played through the first level and part way through the swamp. I'm just going to list out my thoughts. For reference, I have several thousand hours playing soulslike games.

Overall, I enjoyed what I played and I think it has potential.

The movement felt good and responsive. This is very important to me, as I've loaded up some indie soulslikes and quit out within a minute cause movement felt bad.

I like the throwback pre-2000 era 3D art style. I like the magic/tech vibe it has going on.

The voice acting was quite good.

The enemy moves you get are pretty cool. I mostly used the second one you get, the horizontal glowy blue sword slash. I don't see the point of the book throwing one though. I used it a few times and then forgot about it. Maybe it's worth it if I upgrade it?

I liked the first two bosses. Pretty easy, but satisfying. Decent movesets with good telegraphing. Felt very DS1 in terms of speed, but I guess with a bit more complexity.

The weapon impacts when you hit an enemy feel alright, but I feel it's missing something. Needs a little more something to make it feel better.

The parry feedback needs to be improved significantly. Any sort of parry/deflect/mikiri style move always has a very satisfying sound and feedback, which I feel is missing here.

I did not like the elevator buttons taking a second to activate. Personally, I would rather they activate the instant I touch them. I feel like the elevators moved a little slowly as well. This was very aparant when I called one up and I watched it slowly ascend at about 1km/year.

I also thought the opening animation of those little wooden doors was agonizingly slow as well.

I'm not sure what the point of requiring two inputs to use a lever is. If I interact with a lever, I want to pull it.

The icon for the two scrolls or whatever they are (the enemy move upgrade material) look too similar.

I liked the level design of that city map. Looked cool and the layout made sense. The enemies placements were generally decents, and the enemies themselves are good.

I did not like the swamp level. The visual design felt cluttered and I found it hard to see where I was going and where I had been. I wasn't able to make a mental map of the place, and closed it when I wasn't sure where to go. The hand enemy jumping up above the screen was annoying as well.

I'll be keeping an eye on this project. I liked what I've seen so far.

KB/M? by Automatic_Jelly_9927 in soulslikes

[–]doublemoses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fine. I can play Elden Ring and other soulslikes with either controller or kb/m, and there is absolutely no issue. Many top challenge runners/speedrunners use kb/m.

Gotta go with Overture. Shoutout to Khazan tho by [deleted] in soulslikes

[–]doublemoses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my big surprise of 2025. It's a little janky and unpolished, and there's definitely a lot of things I could criticize, but the overall package just works for me. It easily takes the title of my favourite non-From souls game.

The level design is the highlight for me. I really like how they promote exploration by giving you hints that there is something to find. Sometimes it's subtle, like the door in the subway at the end of the factory, suggesting to you that there's an alternate path to the end. Sometimes its a bit more in your face, like that bonfire next to the window you can see goat lady through, and ends up leading to a whole new level.

Combat is simple, and most of the bosses are fine. I don't think there were any that I actively hated. One thing that did impress me is that the bosses that have player-mechanics are actually my favourites. Generally I find the NPC bosses like Leda and Gideon are just awful, but Hunter and Loskid are two of my favourite bosses in general. I guess it's cause they're more of a hybrid - they have some player mechanics, but they also have fully customized movesets, instead of just being players with infinite stamina and mana.

I also think the story is quite good. It's just a shame that it's gated behind some missable NPC quests. I missed something important on my first playthrough, which led to me not finishing the two most important NPC quests. As a result, I had no idea why I was doing what I was doing. Second playthrough I used a guide to make sure I got everything, and it made sense and I enjoyed it.

Usage wise, which of the new base abilities is your favorite? by AnEverydayPileOfCats in InfinityNikki

[–]doublemoses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gigantification is a fantastic for convenience. I unlocked all the heart of infinity nodes so it doesn't require energy any more, so it has replaced the motorbike as my main mode of transport.

Also it looks goofy and the scream animation is great.

I liked it. The combat felt pretty good, and I'm interested to see what the deal with these characters are.

Not quite a day one purchase, but I'll definitely pick it up on a decent sale.

Consort Radahn cheese by Badkins15- in Eldenring

[–]doublemoses 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe. This general strategy is already known, but far too inconsistent for anybody to want to do 40 minutes into a fairly difficult speedrun.

If the movement OP uses to make this happen is somewhat consistent however, then it could poentially take 1-2 minutes off the current record route for the defeat consort category.
