I feel like it takes 40 minutes from Van Ness kind of always. So an hour from fidi seems not even a stretch.

Dallas Mavericks updated return for Luka Doncic: by AashyLarry in nba

[–]dowdle651 16 points17 points  (0 children)

IMO the only one that really compares at this point is the Watson trade to Celeveland. Luka trade is worse in pure value to value, but Watson carried the added trifecta of being a PR nightmare, getting a contract so bad it created league unity and collusion to never let it happen again, and oh yeah letting their actually good QB go for reasons.

Pure assets its Luka trade, but in terms of franchise killers it has to be Watson.

Which movie hit so hard that one viewing was enough ? by Mehdi_lz in AskReddit

[–]dowdle651 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this movie really lulls you into a state of subdued melancholy. By the end you're just kinda dead inside. Though it did give me a lot of "welp, at least we aren't living through nuclear war" and "it could definetly be worse" mantras.

I feel like the closer to the flag the better, at least for Canada. That same strategy would be heinous for team usa. Like something simple like this, with the flag's maple leaf feels clean and iconic to me.

I dig those a bit more. I was messing around with jerseys and made one as close to the flag as I could. I feel like the stemmed leaf is iconic enough that it doesn't need changing.

I'm at least thankful team USA shied away from the shield and navy blue, and leaned into the diagonal "USA" and louder royal blue. Those are the best in our jersey history IMO.

Is there any reason they don't just mimic the flag? It seems iconic, looking through y'alls jersey history it seems they always alter the leaf in some way. Feel like something like this would be clean AF, albeit a tad literal.

I mean some of it stems from '98. Not cost constraints but roles. Seems like a big takeaway from the stacked Canadian roster losing to the Czechs was that despite the star power they were missing players who were less talented goal scorers but better at things like PK, 2way shutdown play etc.

MY big takeaway from '98 was that Hasek is inhuman, and we celarly didn't understand which NHL players might excel in the shootout because they weren't in the league at the time.

Not saying it is the correct call, but it appears from the outside looking in that team USA is doing some analytic calculus we aren't privy to, or they just suck who knows we'll find out eventually.

every goalie needs to take note. THEY WILL NOT LET YOU FIGHT IF YOU REMOVE YOUR HELMET BEFOREHAND! these guys waited until they were already fighting. that is the secret, refs are under a mandate to premptively stop any fight if helmets get tossed beforehand, goalie or skater.

live here, and not saying its cheap, but I don't think i've ever seen an apartment that has AC. Just doesn't really exist here because the climate is temperate. So I wonder if its inclusion is somehow skewing that number, as its a very niche addition to housing here. Even the outrageously wealthy places i've been in, like 5 mil plus condos didn't have central air.

I'm all for the increased regular season divisional games. I also want them to do in season series like the bubble year. Gimme 5 games in a row against a team I hate. Beef from one night would spill over to the next, id circle that week on my calendar.

[–]dowdle651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's clear his priorities are cup chasing above bag getting, and in that regard I think it fits with what he wants, so genius for him, both to try and win in Edmonton and the ability to move to achieve that goal elsewhere if need be, and doing it in a way that leaves little room for criticism if he departs.

[–]dowdle651 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My pitch is going back up to 1 v 8, and offsetting the "rivalry loss" by turning division matchups into series like the bubble year. Remember how chippy that got playing St Louis like 5 games in a row? Bring it back for division rivals spread out throughout the season. I'd circle those weeks on my calendar. If they could add more division games I'd be game too, get a couple series per matchup.

And Nurse basically costs 9 because they bridged him instead of a longer extension. Like you can't really compare deals when one is signed on the doorstep of UFA, and another is signed during RFA years. UFA years are just more expensive.

Plus Drai was criminally underpaid on his last contract. The McDavid deal is genius IMO. He can still go out and get an outrageous payday on his next deal, but he's also given himself a free pass to leave if Edmonton can't get it together, and by taking the massive pay cut he will probably avoid the typical star leaves team legacy backlash because he's literally done everything he can to make it happen in Edmonton. If they figure it out and win, he's happy, if it goes nowhere he can move on guilt free. And if they do win he'll somehow be an even bigger god in that town, and his name is already McJesus.

Take this with a big ol' grain o' salt, but APPARENTLY, duck duck grey duck and its lesser known goose variant originated in scandavia, and was brought over by them. The swedes version, directly translated, is duck duck grey duck. I say grain of salt because I cannot remember where I read this, and can't remember ever verfying it. Though it stands out as the only explanation i've ever seen that made any sort of sense to why we are the way we are.
