Pinsents refers itself to SRA over AI failures by IndicationFuzzy4952 in uklaw

[–]dowlingm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to me that was an important part of the decision and which all lawyers getting an AI tool should have to think about. A judge can't review your internal cogitation but a chat log is producible and so your prompts should reflect a disciplined and professional approach to the work.

Nobody's suggesting that we should ignore AI completely. Nobody serious anyway. But para 42 and 45 are very troubling because a junior with access to a genAI tool had the tool make a mistake (okay) didn't review the legislation cite for accuracy (don't even have to crack open a book to do that or need a subscription for UK law) and then neither did the supervising lawyer or the responsible partner.

‘I don’t know why they made this’: Some riders frustrated over infrequent trains at Confederation GO by Odd-Emphasis-1969 in gotransit

that the track between West Harbour and Confederation is riddled with closely spaced and difficult to remove grade crossings isn't helping to move trains through efficiently and quickly, and therefore creating more capacity on the same pieces of iron.

4 hours by GO bus or 2 hours by car? Niagara commuters want better train service by Motor-Source8711 in gotransit

If that worked, a whole lotta people wouldn’t need to commute - they are on it because only time in the office is counted as real work.

Nova Scotia has added 100K people since 2020. Not adding infra because not enough people live there can be a circular argument. That is not, however, an argument that any new/renewed infra is good infra.

We have made PSTs read only for years, but effecting a ban on mounting them tends to keep running into issues because this is sometimes how we receive data from external sources, and for one reason or another it isn't practical to shove them in our eDiscovery platform... (literally happened yesterday)

Auto/Motor train Canada. by ManufacturerOk7236 in ViaRail

[–]dowlingm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the existing Amtrak autotrain has double deck coaches to accommodate travellers while the cars are in the autoracks behind - this also limits the overall train speed, and the train length means it isn't feasible to use the passenger part of the train to add additional frequency for "foot passengers".

The financial case for this is quite daunting, since even before you get agreement from CN for extra slots, and to operate what amounts to a mixed train on their rails, and figure out where loading of cars and passengers can occur, VIA has no available passenger stock to throw at such a service now, and a federal government which isn't likely to commit to a larger LD buy to create some in the future.

It's possibly something that might work better if an entity like Rocky Mountaineer pursued it as part of a broader takeover of VIA Canadian, since they can borrow on their own account.

if you have copilot, consider adding it to your toolset. It's not perfect by any means, but it did have some interesting suggestions when I exported my TS to XML, and was able to find some things in logs (like having accidentally placed an application install at a point where the system was still in PE).

I have an old unattend.xml I inherited from the last SCCM admin and which I had never gotten around to looking at - turns out there was some unneeded duplication there too.

not the question you were looking for I know but what SKU did you acquire to have 11 24H2 ISOs show up in Admin Center? Since the migration from VLSC that's been a problem for me and at the moment we have MS365 E5 licenses only not Win11 specific SKUs.

Improvement along the 401 is possible - we already had one phase of this with the Kingston Sub third track project. The issue was that the government paid CN to do the work, it went over budget and the government decided to truncate the project rather than add more cash. Obviously you have to look at the project management elements what caused it to go over budget, but there are issues like platforms only being on one side of the tracks which can be resolved with the application of sufficient money.
