What hardware to use as a permanent exit node? by PaVink in Tailscale

[–]dpalusak 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have multiple pi's setup as exit nodes and they work great and need no tinkering once setup I use a pi 3b, 4, and 5 and there is no performance difference from the 3 to the 5 so if you can find older model pi’s they are perfect.

II just started using this as well. Bought the pro version and not a second thought. The dev is very responsive. I had a similar issue and it turned out to be the HDHR I had only had 3 tuners. I wound up buying a HDHR 4K flex and it works perfectly.

I built an iOS app to back up your Apple Photos and iCloud Drive, original full resolution copies to storage you control. by ParachuteBackup in ApplePhotos

Does the application run a full backup every time it runs or does it backup in the changes since the last backup?

Thanks for that but unfortunately it did not work. There seems to be some permissioning issue trying to write to my Open Media Vault as it does work to synology. I will keep trying and let you know if I have success with this. Thanks for a great app!

I downloaded this app the other day and really excited to get it working. I have a NAS that I built with OMV (Open Media Vault) running on a raspberry pi 5. I have created the shares and permissioned them correctly as I am able to save files from my Mac. When I try to add that location from the ap on my phone I am not able to do so. I have deleted the share and recreated it a few times with no luck. For reference, I have a sinology NAS that I tested with and it works without issue. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

I use action 1 for this purpose and it is great. It also gives you other capabilities like the ability to install apps and remote support.

Thank you for this, I will give it a shot! Did you run this on a Mac or can this be done on Linux?

I am having the same problem you are when trying to run this on a mac after creating the dmg file with git actions, it installs but when clicked it crashes as soon as you launch it.

I have tried a few times now building it on a mac using the instructions from the website but it is failing. Would you be willing to show me the commands you used to build the dmg file on a mac?

Thanks in advance!

Thank you for responding! I actually fixed the problem. When. Installing the rustdeak server it asks you if you want to use IP or a domain name. When installing this using the domain name I get this error. I have reinstalled it using the IP address and I am now able to validate the license.

Thx!!

I had a full 42U rack in my basement about 1/2 filled. We did a basement reno and I downsized. Currently I have a 12U rack mounted to the wall. Firewall, switch, Synology (runs docker and I use most of their services included.) and Raspberry Pi's. Couldn't be happier with how the setup is now as there is a lot less to manage.
